With just 6 games scheduled for Round 30 of the Euroleague, the value has gotten more difficult to come by. But I’ve found the 2 most valuable bets of the round, with two very underrated squads in very solid form. I’m backing Panathinaikos and Crvena Zvezda to cover the spread tonight.

Olympiacos Piraeus are 4th in the Euroleague standings with 17 wins and 10 losses and have won 4 of their last 5 games. They played a mid-week game on Tuesday against Zalgiris Kaunas and won by 84-73. It was a very close game up until the 4th quarter, and I expect fatigue to be a slight issue in this game. They are a solid team and are in good form at the moment, but they are available at 1.25 odds to win, and 99% of bettors are backing them. No, thank you.
Their offence has been functioning well so far, averaging 79.7 points per game with 17 assists, and a solid 3-point percentage of 34.8%. But there are some points of concern with this team, mainly their defence. They’ve allowed an average of 74.5 points per game this season, as well as 83.6 in their last 3 games. Olympiacos have a very fierce rivalry with Panathinaikos and having already played a tough Euroleague game just two days ago, they don’t provide very much value.
Panathinaikos had a very difficult season so far, but they have managed to recover their form slightly in recent months and notch a few wins. They are still losing a lot, with a record of 3-6 since the new year, but their performances have been quite respectable since. They are coming off a 75-76 loss to Olimpia Milano, and they will be well-rested before the game.
Panathinaikos are the better defensive team in this game, and despite allowing a higher number of points per game, they have better rebounders and commit fewer turnovers per game. Nemanja Nedovic has been crucial for Panathinaikos recently, tallying 19 points against Milano, 23 against Zalgiris and 25 against Crvena Zvezda. This is by no means an elite team, but I’m expecting their defensive effort to be very high due to their heated rivalry, and as heavy underdogs, they do provide some solid value.

Barcelona are still sitting atop the Euroleague standings with 21 wins and 6 losses this season, as well as 4 victories in their last 5 games. This team has one of the most efficient offences in the league, averaging 83.0 points, 18.3 assists and 9.1 3-pointers per game. They are averaging a very impressive 40.9% 3-point percentage, as well as a free-throw percentage of 82.8%.
But it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows for Barcelona this year, as they are also allowing 75.9 points per game, committing 13.0 turnovers, and also grabbing just 5.7 steals per game. Despite being heavy favourites in almost all of their games, they have underperformed multiple times this season, most recently losing their game against Zalgiris by 91-84. This team is definitely beatable and with a heavy majority of bettors picking them to win tonight, the value is definitely not with them.
But Crvena Zvezda are continuing with their solid form in the Euroleague recently, winning 4 of their last 5 games, and coming off an 84-77 victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv. They have been one of the best defensive sides all season in the league, allowing just 73.9 points per game, as well as grabbing 6.9 steals per game. This team has been carrying a lot of betting value all season, largely due to their reputation as a low-scoring team that struggles to win.
But this hasn’t been the case in recent games, and they are doing an excellent job at sharing the scoring load, with 10 different players averaging 5 points per game or more. Of course, Nikola Kalinic is still their top scorer, but their offence has gotten a lot more balanced and fluid in recent games. I don’t expect them to win this game by any means, but they are severely underrated, and they are more than capable of covering the 11.5 point spread. Their last game against Barcelona was a 76-69 loss, and I’m hoping for a similar result in this one.
