With both having 1-1, the game between New Zealand and Greece will decide who is going to the next stage. Whilst Greece got a better level of talent, both teams lost to the USA by a similar margin. Still, experience is on the side of the Greeks and they should confirm their favourite status.

While Greece started games slowly, they still managed to beat Jordan by 21 points. The Greeks for this tournament are without some of their best players, Giannis Antetokuonmpo, Kostas Sloukas, and Nick Calathes.
Still, they have some Euroleague talent, their leader is Thomas Walkup, Olympiacos guard, and at the centre position, there is Papagiannis. There are also Larentzakis, Papanikolau, Papapetrou.
New Zealand’s only good defensive quarters were the first quarter against Team USA, and overtime against Jordan. They play fast, and like to set the tempo of the game. Against Greek single coverage defence, they will need transitions as much as they can, so I see New Zealand forcing the game to be faster.
The Greeks have some issues on offence, but against New Zealand’s level of play, those shouldn’t be that huge of a problem. Like three-point shooting, if the game turns into New Zealand pace, they shouldn’t be able to exploit the Greeks that much.
The Greeks like to play inside, and New Zealand showcased they have defensive issues, as they allowed Jordan to shoot 31 free throws and 27 to Team USA. The Greeks aren’t attempting many free throws, but they have several players who can get into the spots and draw fouls.
Thomas currently averages 7 assists, having 7 apiece in both games. He shouldn’t have an issue penetrating New Zealand’s paint and dish it outside for shooters. While the Greek 3-point percentage isn’t good, against New Zealand it should be a little bit better than it was against Team USA. Also, Walkup should have opportunities to pass the ball to Papagiannis, who will have mismatches inside.
Yanni Wetzel is Tall Blacks tallest player, and he is shorter by 12 cm (almost 5 inches) than Papagiannis. With a faster pace, Thomas will have more opportunities for assists. He should be aggressive and play a solid role, as Greece is playing this game to advance into the second stage.
