KANSAS STATE WILDCATS VS KANSAS JAYHAWKS PICKS AND PREDICTION

Oh, you know my history with Kansas first-half bets around here by now, right? It is all well-documented in my profile history, and I am out to take this run to a 7-game win streak with the Kansas -2.5 1st-Half Handicap.

Since this is about the 15th time in 2 years I have covered Kansas games, I know what Jayhawk Head Coach Bill Self is going to do after smashing Houston into the ground this past weekend! I said SMASHED Houston, and what a game Kansas put together to take out what was then the #4 team in the country, 78 – 65.

Make no mistake that the final score you see is a true depiction of what Kansas did to Houston the entire game, and it all started with the Jayhawks coming out motivated early… again! Kansas flew out to a 43 – 28 halftime lead against one of the best teams in the country, and I guarantee that Bill Self will keep his kids in the same mindset coming into Manhattan for a rival game with K State. The numbers mean nothing anymore, and rivalry games like these bring out the emotions that need to be dealt with to maintain your game. Kansas will come out of the gate inspired again tonight, and there is no way that Coach Self will let a win over Houston go for nothing with a flat start against the Wildcats tonight.

There is no better motivator in the landscape of college football than Bill Self, and Let’s also face the fact that Kansas State comes into this game trying to shake off a 4-game losing slide.

The Wildcats offense has been downright offensive if you get my drift, and you can go by the rankings, look at the numbers, or use whatever math you want to play around with. Still, the fact is that Kansas State can’t score enough to hang around with the likes of Kansas, in my honest opinion.

Every time a Wildcat player steps back to shoot a 3-point shot tonight, remember to listen for one thing… DOINK! Yes, I called it a doink, or a clunk, or a clank, you call it what you like, but we can agree on bricks, right? HA!

Even if the Wildcats are home tonight, I don’t think that will make them turn into a better team overnight, because the last seven times Kanasa State has played, they have not toppled 72 points, and it’s why they are 2 – 5 over that span. For goodness sake, Chicago State held Kansas State to 62 points on this floor!

With 14.5 turnovers a game, the Wildcats rank 348th in the country in giving the ball away, and I mentioned those 3-point numbers and they look like 31.1% from behind the arc ranking 309th in the nation. Not a good combo to keep yourself in close games, or to even stay in a game at all! Especially with the mighty Jayhawks playing with their hair on fire after smashing a damn solid Cougar program to bits!

Even though Kansas is pretty damn thin on that bench, the starting 5 are just doing what they do and staying on the court giving quality minutes in droves. All 5 Kansas starters played no less than 33 minutes against Houston, and the Jayhawks only got 7 points from two players off the pine in that emphatic win this weekend.

I have Bill Self and Kansas early, knowing how to keep his guys motivated to smack around Kansas State with no concern for any rivalry, and that will get us to 7 – 0 when I see you on Tuesday!

KANSAS STATE WILDCATS VS KANSAS JAYHAWKS STATS AND FORM

The Kansas State Wildcats are in the midst of a 4-game losing streak. While they haven’t held any of their last four opponents to less than 73 points, the Wildcats have not scored more than 72 points in the same time.

The Kansas Jayhawks have averaged 39.9 first-half points this season, ranking them 18th in the country.

No team is more unselfish than Kansas, as they rank #1 in all of college hoops dishing out 20.7 assists per game. The Jayhawks have 3 guards who average over 4 assists per game, and then let’s talk about Mr. Hunter Dickinson, shall we?
The dude is a double-double waiting to happen any and every night, and I will predict that he has 12 & 7 by halftime aiding our first-half bet to fruition!

Kansas State does have a big edge in bench production, as you will see up to 10 players in Wildcat uniform take the floor at some point in this game. Arthur Kaluma will have his hands full in the paint for the Wildcats, as he and Dickinson will be battling for rebounds all night trying to set an inside presence.
