Minnesota Lynx vs Indiana Fever Best Bet: Back Lynx For Home Win

Minnesota Lynx vs Indiana Fever Best Bet: Wednesday, July 5th
The Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever meet for the second time this season on Wednesday night. Indiana was two-point victors when the teams clashed earlier in the campaign. Since then, the Lynx have won six of their eight outings, and they reside two games ahead of the Fever.
It is four losses in a row for Indiana. While they have already matched their 2022 win total after going a brutal 5-31 in the regular season, they are looking a long way off the pace.
Jessica Shephard, Natalie Achonwa, Aerial Powers and Tiffany Mitchell are unavailable for the Lynx. Indiana has a clean bill of health, which contributes to the road team being just one-point underdogs for this game despite the contrasting recent records.

There is little to choose between these teams if we look at season-long net rating. Hiring Christie Sides and adding first overall pick Aliyah Boston has clearly elevated the Fever to a degree. Minnesota wasn’t at its best to start the season, and they are without a couple of rotation players.
Narrow down the sample to just the last five games, however, and the Lynx are +2.2 with the Fever at -8.3. Minnesota has been average or better at both ends of the floor. Only the Dream have a worse defence than Indiana over that period. It’s worth bearing in mind, too, that this spell includes several games where the Lynx have been without the players who are unavailable on Wednesday night.
Being a plus rebounding team is one area where the Fever have an advantage of late. Earning extra possessions on the offensive glass (35.1% offensive rebounding rate over the last five) is going to be significant for the Fever. The Lynx have the lowest turnover rate in the Association across their previous five games, but Indiana can compensate for that by attacking the glass.
Despite sitting fifth in offensive rating for the season, the Fever have the second-lowest true shooting percentage since 22nd June. Minnesota is a poor perimeter shooting team, but their overall offensive performance has been solid enough of late.
Minnesota Lynx vs Indiana Fever Best Bet
Indiana has only won 10 games since the start of last season. Three of those have come against the Lynx. That will tempt some to back the road team in this one, but the Lynx’s recent results indicate they are the value pick here.
Minnesota is an appealing wager at 1.83. Their defence is strong enough to keep the Fever under control, and their offence has been putting up enough points of late to secure their eighth win of the campaign.
