There is little to choose between these teams if we look at season-long net rating. Hiring Christie Sides and adding first overall pick Aliyah Boston has clearly elevated the Fever to a degree. Minnesota wasn’t at its best to start the season, and they are without a couple of rotation players.
Narrow down the sample to just the last five games, however, and the Lynx are +2.2 with the Fever at -8.3. Minnesota has been average or better at both ends of the floor. Only the Dream have a worse defence than Indiana over that period. It’s worth bearing in mind, too, that this spell includes several games where the Lynx have been without the players who are unavailable on Wednesday night.
Being a plus rebounding team is one area where the Fever have an advantage of late. Earning extra possessions on the offensive glass (35.1% offensive rebounding rate over the last five) is going to be significant for the Fever.
