It’s time to hit the court on Tuesday night as our resident college hoops expert Ej Garr has picked out a pair of totals from the over-sized slate of games being played tonight. Starting at the Murph in Tennessee where the Blue Raiders take on the Blazers, Ej then heads to Cancun for the game between New Mexico State and Fresno State.

The Blue Raiders and Blazers will be taking the Murphy Center court on Tuesday night, and we can expect a high-scoring affair to occur when these two teams get together.
Despite the UAB offense ranking 221st in the nation, that still has them putting up over 73 PPG and the Blue Raiders aren’t far behind them. Middle Tennessee State ranks 226th in the nation, averaging 73.2 PPG, so seeing this total at a mere 140 doesn’t intimidate me.
In addition to that, I am dumbfounded that the Blue Raiders are favoured by a point even if they are on their home court for this matchup. I am so much more impressed with the 4 games that UAB has played to start the new campaign, having earned a win over Maryland while coming up one point shy of beating Clemson.
I think the Blazers are going to walk into Murfreesboro and leave with a win so while you make a play on this total be sure to expect the road team to escape with the victory too. Both of these teams are guard-heavy and not exactly built to rebound with a big inside influence.
The top 5 scorers for the Blue Raiders are all guards, and four of the top 5 scores for UAB are guards, so I expect a lot of ball movement and a lot of outside shots to be attempted in this contest.
I foresee a 75 – 72 win for the Blazers on the road, so play it accordingly.
Cancun is a vacation destination that is well worth the trip, but the Aggies and Bulldogs don’t have anything in mind but to find a win in the Cancun Classic on Tuesday night.
I am just going to put it out there that I am shocked this total is only 142, and I still see Pinnacle offering 141 at 1.87 as I write this up late on Monday night here in New York. I expected to see a total more like 145 or higher but maybe the line setters expect a neutral court to cause some problems for these two offenses.
I don’t think that will be the case in the least, as Fresno State has hit both of their overs to start the season (Their first game was unlined against Fresno Pacific), and the Aggies offense has also hit their last two lined overs.
Femi Odukale finally took the court for the Aggies in their last game, and all he did was put up an 18 & 8 night against Northern Colorado. Odukale was a transfer portal grab after leaving Seton Hall which now makes it three teams he has played for in three years. After two years at Pittsburgh, Odukale left for Seton Hall and then hit the market again looking for more playing time.
What I like is the depth for New Mexico State, as they have 10 dudes averaging over 13 minutes a game and 5 players averaging over double-digits scoring.
Over at BWin, they are offering a 1.91 price on the +5.5 with the Aggies, and that is certainly a play you should be making in this spot. I expect this to be a tight game with plenty of scoring.
Expect an 81 – 78 type of game to break out in Cancun, so the Underdog and the Over are both worth your time and money!
