Is it Friday already? No, it is only Tuesday, but that won’t stop it from becoming MAAC Day here at bettingexpert early in the week! That’s right, Ej has picked out the only MAAC game on the Tuesday night college hoops schedule to find his best bet, so let’s take the trip to Niagara Falls, NY, and we don’t even need a barrel!

There is an expression here in New York called going over the falls in a barrel, and it stems from a historical event that happened in 1901. Annie Edson Taylor went over the edge of Niagara Falls strapped into a barrel, and she amazingly survived the plunge. Luckily, all we are chasing is a barrel of money tonight, and I picked out the MAAC game because I was thrilled to even see it on the board!
You all know by now that I have declared Friday MAAC Day here at bettingexpert, but this week will feature Tuesday and Thursday MAAC action from yours truly. There are only three total games on the schedule this upcoming Friday, and none of them are MAAC affairs, so let’s make it two days this week instead!
We’re okay with that, and the reason I wanted to get this game covered was because of that handicap on the home side! Niagara is only favoured by -3.5 points, and I believe it won’t be this low as the day moves closer to tip-off. Canisius being given a chance to hang around on the road is just not going to happen, and here is why.
Let’s start with that road record for the Griffs, and when you have played 10 games away from home and won one of them, what does that tell you? It tells me that the Griffs can’t go on the road and play together, which is not uncommon in college hoops at all. The home/road win discrepancy in NCAA basketball is significant to begin with, There are still 34 teams that are undefeated on their home court, and it is February!
Oh, and the number is 68%, in case you were wondering how often teams win at home in college hoops. Now, that has zero regard for the handicap/spread, however, and those numbers obviously, come down a little because we do see plenty of games that are decided by 3 points or less.
Anyway, Canisius hasn’t figured out how to stay together on the road, as they are 0 – 8 over the last eight away games. The Griffs are 0 – 5 on the road in MAAC play, and in addition to that the Griffs have lost 5 of their last 6 games producing a 2 – 9 record in the last 11 games.
Another noticeable stat is how bad the Griffs are losing their games too, I mean they don’t just lose they get smashed around like Tonka Toys! In the last 6 games, Canisius has had one win and has lost all five of the other affairs by no less than 9 points, and Iona is on deck this Saturday!
Niagara is 8 – 2 over the last 10 games and 4 – 1 over the last 5 outings, and if there is any momentum to be found for the Eagles it is happening right now. Catching a struggling Canisius squad at home should provide us with another win taking the handicap with the home side.
The Eagles are 13 – 7 covering the line this campaign, and they have four players averaging double-digit scoring. Harlan Obioha and Kwane Marble add 9.3 and 7.8 PPG for the Eagles as well, and depth is not an issue in the least for Niagara. Head Coach Greg Paulus goes 11 deep on his roster, so he can give his starters rest and rely on his bench players to still get the job done.
Niagara is winning this game 74 – 65, and that will get us paid when the final horn sounds.
