Panathinaikos vs Partizan Best Bet: Thursday, November 3rd

The mythical Zeljko Obradovic and Ioannis Papapetrou are returning to the packed OAKA in round 5 of the Euroleague. We are expecting a warm welcome for both team legends. Obradovic has won 10 games against his former club since his departure, but Panathinaikos have finally been showing some signs of life in recent games.

Panathinaikos vs Partizan Preview

Thu, Nov 3rd 19:30 (UK time)

Panathinaikos have started the season 1-4 in the Euroleague, after disappointing results they felt the urgency to sign D. Bacon, who is expected to be a crucial piece in their upcoming games. We are hoping for him to make his debut tonight. Panathinaikos have finally been showing some signs of life, having close Euroleague games against favoured teams and winning easily in the Greek Super League.

PAO’s biggest weakness has been their offence, scoring only 73.2 points per game in this campaign so far while letting their opponents average 78.5. The stats do not become better if they are playing at home. Comparing all h2h stats until now, in this year’s Euroleague campaign, PAO are better than Partizan only in the rebounds per game (PAO 35.5 – PAR 32). Every other statistical aspect goes in the visitors’ favour.

Partizan have been on a good run recently, clinching all 6 victories in the last 6 games domestically and internationally. Although they will be missing J. Nunnally (SG) tonight due to undisclosed reasons, A. Smailagic (C) is expected to return after a long absence, making his debut after a knee injury. Partizan are scoring 86.5 points per game so far, whilst shooting 42% from beyond the arc (tied for 1st in EL). They have been improving their defence recently, allowing only 66.6 points per game in their last 4 games.

We are expecting Partizan to run a 90 Degree pick and roll almost every play tonight, taking out of the paint G. Papagiannis (2.5 blocks per game) and trying to stretch the Panathinaikos offence as much as possible. With so much depth on the bench, this should not be a problem if every player sticks to the game plan. We are betting on them to cover the handicap line +3.5 with their high number of possessions and highly fast-paced game. This style of play doesn’t fit Panathinaikos and we expect them to struggle to keep up.

Panathinaikos vs Partizan Best Bet

Overall, we expect the visitors to show their quality at OAKA and cover the 3.5-point handicap, clinching the victory in the end as well. Pao will need more time to integrate D. Bacon into their system, and we expect them to be fully ready for tonight’s game. Coach Obradovic has won all 10 of his last encounters against Panathinaikos as a coach, and we should see more of the same tonight.

  • Selection: Partizan +3.5 Points
  • Best Odds: 1.87 (Unibet)
  • Stakes: 5/10

Odds as of 1:00 pm on November 3rd, 2022. Odds may now differ.
