Well, what better way to exact some revenge than going into Moraga and returning the favour? Luckily, we don’t need the Broncos to win outright to cash this ticket on the +13.5 Handicap, but I expect the Broncos to march into this little barn and give the Gaels all they can handle tonight,

You may look at Saint Mary’s’ current 8-game win streak and think that is impressive, and then you look at who they have played, and all it does is make me laugh! This conference is full of sh… um, rubbish programs, and despite that beat down to Santa Clara in the current run of results, the Broncos are the only decent team to speak of.

I guess we could include San Francisco as a decent program too, but wins over Portland, Loyola, Pacific, and Kent State don’t impress me a lick. Santa Clara has also wiped the floor with those teams having won 6 of their last 7 games, and did you see which program is in their run? Oh, just Gonzaga, pfft!

Yeah, sorry, that is not a slouch team in the WCC, and Santa Clara handed the Zags a loss right before that meeting with Saint Mary’s that we know didn’t end well. Currently taking their 3-game win streak in Moraga while scoring 283 points along the way, I think the Broncos are going to show up and they might end up winning this game outright.

I know, right? Ballsy call that is, but who the hell am I to get all ballsy about things? They don’t call me the Rainmaker because I tread lightly and play favourites, they call me that because I think dog more often than not and I love points in my pocket.

Santa Clara has stayed healthy with no injuries to report, and that has benefitted them greatly while playing a 10-man rotation all year. The Broncos are deep and they have 5 players averaging at least 9 PPG with Adama Bal leading the way. Bal is coming off a 23-point effort against Pepperdine, going 9 for 11 from the field, 2 of 4 from distance while only committing 1 turnover.

Carlos Marshall Jr. has also been a double-digit producer in the last 3 games, and he has raised his average to 13.3 PPG. Free throws make a difference in almost every game, and Marshall has buried 15 of his last 17 shots from the charity stripe over the last 9 games.

Saint Mary’s has already lost 3 games in this tiny venue, and it is easily one of the smallest arenas in college hoops. I never understood what could make anyone struggle here as a visiting player because the Saint Mary’s fans certainly aren’t intimidating, and the tight backdrop gives no distractions behind the basket. No fans are waving and cheering in your face when you step to the free-throw line.

The biggest issue the Broncos will have is the stout Saint Mary’s defense, and the rankings tell us plenty about them. When it comes to opponent FG%, FG attempts, FG made, and guarding the 3-point line, the Gaels are in the top 10 in the nation in all of those categories. Rebounding is another big strength of the Gaels, as they rank #1 in the land in both the offense and defensive side of the glass

I get the stats, and I understand the rankings, but once again I remind you… GARBAGE PROGRAMS ALL OVER SAINT MARY’S SCHEDULE!
