Our basketball betting expert EJ Garr is back with his Temple Owls vs UAB Blazers Prediction for March 7th 2024. The UAB Blazers are slightly favoured to win tonight with a probability of 56.8% while the Temple Owls are priced at 2.10 odds. The handicap is 2.0 points and the total points line is set at 145.5.
The UAB Blazers are still in contention to reach the 3-seed for the AAC Tournament, and they’ll have to win their final two games of the regular season and get some help along the way to get there. The Temple Owls are trying to avoid landing in the conference basement, and the line setters expect a close game on Thursday night in Philly.

Temple is playing better basketball right now, however, as they have won 3 of their last 4 games with only a 5-point loss to Tulsa last time on the court. UAB has lost 3 of their last 4 games, and that loss to Rice is surely shaking someone’s head still!
The Blazers were double-digit favs in that game, and they have picked a bad time to fall apart with only two games left to play before the AAC Tourney gets underway.
This is the final week of the regular season for most conferences, although there are a few conferences that have already started their tournaments.
UAB has the potential to move up as high as a 3-seed for the AAC Tournament, and if they win their final two games they will still need some help to land there. As it stands going into today’s games, UAB is holding on to the 6-seed in the conference table, but Memphis, Charlotte, and SMU are all within a game of each other from 3 – 6 in the standings.
The Blazers will play SMU on the final day of the regular season so that heads-up battle with the Mustangs will be a big one if UAB can win this game first.
The Owls are a half-game ahead of Tulane at the bottom of the AAC standings at 4 – 12, and Temple has only won 5 of their 13 home games this season. UAB has a better road record at 6 – 5 than the Owls have at home and that is a big thing in college hoops. When you can’t even produce a .500 record on your home court, that says a lot about your program.
I see this as a game that starts fast with both teams splashing home big shot after big shot and the first-half total is listed at 68.5. These offenses have not been the issue for either team, and I see a 38 – 35 game going to the locker room.
The Temple offense may only rank 264th in the country in scoring, but that still means that they score about 71 points a game. The UAB defense gives up 76 PPG ranking them 294th in the country and they are among the worst first-half teams in the entire league. UAB gives up 37.6 points in the first 20 minutes of games this year, and this will be a high-scoring opening stanza.

After losing 10 consecutive games from Jan 10 to Feb 15, the Owls have won 3 of their last 4 games.
The Owls struggle with keeping teams off the glass, as they rank 345th in the country in defensive rebounding. The Owls offense only hits 38.8% of their shots from the floor, and that tanks them among the worst in NCAA at 358th.
After a 13 – 3 run from Dec 13 to Feb 18, the Blazers have lost 3 of their last 4 games.
The UAB defense is allowing 76 PPG, but their offense levels that out putting up 76.6 PPG.
The Blazers have five players averaging double-digit scoring, and Yaxel Lendeborg has been a double-double machine this year. Lendenborg has produced 14 double-doubles, although he is coming off one of his worst efforts of the season against Memphis (6 Pts in the loss)
