In 19th round of this Euroleague campaign, we will have the opportunity to watch a highly anticipated clash between Virtus Bologna and Olympiacos. The home team has finally found some success in the international competition and has managed to win 3 out of their last 4 games. Olympiacos have shown weaknesses after a furious start and are seeking their way back to winning.

Virtus currently have a record of 8 wins and 10 losses but have recently shown signs of improvement and better synergy. They are averaging almost 78 PPG, which is an improvement since they were at the bottom of the offensive stats in the league until recently. Their biggest strength is Coach Skariolo’s man-to-man defence and defensive zones, which have given Virtus a much-needed defensive boost to pick up some wins in this year’s Euroleague campaign.
They rank 3rd in the league with 7.3 steals per game. Virtus will have to deal with some injury issues as N. Mannion is “questionable” for today’s game due to a shoulder sprain. A. Abass, as already announced, is out due to a knee injury.
Olympiacos has probably been the best team in the EL in the first couple of months. The level of synergy coach Bartzokas was able to develop was out of this world. After a couple of injuries to their squad, they have shown signs of slowing down but they are building the momentum back again it seems. They have won 2 away games against teams that are in the same quality range with Virtus, winning against Lyon and PAO quite easily.
They are shooting an unbelievable 39% from behind the arc and scoring an average of 86 PPG. They are the best-assisting team in the league with an average of 23 dishes on a nightly basis. The Greek side will not be missing any players for tonight due to injuries.
The moneyline suggests Olympiacos are the favourite tonight, but we believe they will cover the spread as well against the older and slower Virtus side. Olympiacos did not have issues with similar teams and was usually able to overrun them in transition and make an unrecoverable margin.
Olympiacos won the first H2H this season with a score of 117-71 and that is a fact in itself. We do not think something similar will happen tonight, but Olympiacos certainly has an advantage with its current form and the quality of its squad.
