He’s done it again! Our resident college basketball expert Ej Garr dished out another winner on Wednesday night, and that improves his record in 2024 to an impressive 6 – 0! He promised to get our readers paid in only 20 minutes and that is exactly what he did, so how is he going to land win #7 on Thursday night?
Having already taken advantage of the Monmouth Hawks in his magical run of results to kick off the new year, he expects the road team to hang around with UNC-Wilmington long enough to keep the game close and cover the handicap this time as an underdog!

I know! Thank you, thank you very much! 6 – 0 is a pretty nice start to the 2024 portion of the season, but we are only as good as our next bet in this industry! As you may recall, we started the week with the Monmouth Hawks to cover the -2.5 chalk against Northeastern, and all they did was win by 19 points in convincing fashion, 91 – 62.
I was convinced they were the better team that night, and I am not so sure they aren’t the better team on this court tonight either. The line setters want to lead us to believe that the Seahawks should win this game easily by putting an -8.5 number on them at home tonight, but I digress!
UNC-Wilmington has lost both of their conference games and now they are facing a 3-game losing run entering this game at home on Thursday night. I really don’t see Trask Coliseum as a big home-court advantage that Monmouth can’t get past, and I expect this to be a tight game all night long. I will go on a limb and say that the Seahawks will never have a double-digit lead on the Hawks at any point in this game. With an +8.5 on the board, I think we have ourselves another winner to keep this magical run going in 2024.
If you like things like common opponents, UNC-Wilmington just got beat by Towson last weekend, and yet Monmouth handled Towson an 8-point loss just two nights previous to that. I don’t put much stock in such things, but it is something to notice and I will take it in our favour, at least.
I mentioned Xander Rice in my Monday preview with Monmouth, and all he did was dump 29 points on Northeastern to help us cash that ticket. It wasn’t much of a performance, you know, the kind where you go 5 for 5 from behind the arc, 11 of 12 from the floor, and splash both of your free throws, pfft! Goodness, he took over the game for Monmouth, and having that dude on my side suits me fine with a bunch of points in my pocket.
What makes the Seahawks dangerous is the fact that they have four players averaging double-digits this season, and none are more potent than Trazarien White. White is one of 28 players in Division 1 hoops averaging over 20 PPG, and after setting his career-high points total with 28 against Arkansas last week, he reset his personal best with a 33-point effort in the loss to Towson.
Did you notice that final score with Towson and UNC-Wilmington? It was 67 – 64, and White scored 33 of those 64 points in the loss. I will add that I love this total to fly over the 143, so keep that in mind if you are looking for extra action on this affair.
As I like to do, I will offer up my score prediction of 81 – 77 and see where the chips fall with my stake on the underdog to cover the number on the road.
