The Dallas Wings and Chicago Sky open their seasons at College Park Center on Wednesday night. While Wings vs Sky Prediction Win Probability and odds heavily favor the home team, there’s still a lot for bettors to weigh up before placing their wagers. Our Wings vs Sun prediction at 1.95 odds is available below!
Dallas is without one of its stars in Satou Sabally, while this is a new-look Chicago team led by college star Angle Reese.
The WNBA campaign is getting underway, and our Expert Insights are stacked with basketball betting tips. Expert Sam Cox will have his best bets throughout the regular season.
Odds as of May 15th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
Dallas covered the spread in three of their four postseason outings. Chicago was good against the spread last season, but we think there will be a settling-in period for this much-changed roster. The Wings know their game plan, and that should give them a considerable advantage here.
Of course, homecourt helps the Wings out a fair bit, too. This might seem like a big spread with the uncertainty of a new season, but there’s still value in taking Dallas to cover. My Wings vs Sky prediction is for the Wings to cover the -9.5-point handicap.
Satou Sabally is out for the first few weeks of the season. Dallas has enough veterans and talent to compensate for Sabally’s absence, but they will still be weakened by losing a player who averaged over 18 points and eight rebounds last season.
Much improved under Latricia Trammell, the Wings are ambitious heading into the new campaign and will believe they can compete with the league’s elite teams.
Look out for first-round pick Jacy Sheldon getting minutes in the backcourt. Dallas was keen to get bigger at the guard spots and could experiment with their rotations in the season opener.
Draft picks Angle Reese, Kamila Cardoso, and Brynna Maxwell arrive in the Association with plenty of expectations. It was an offseason of considerable roster turnover for the Sky, who are looking to get themselves on track after winning just 18 games in 2023.
This roster is a work in progress, though, and it lacks the star power of the WNBA’s powerhouses. Projections have them missing the playoffs for the most part, and it will be fascinating to see how their rookies cope with the scrutiny of playing in the W.
In 50 regular season meetings, these teams have won 25 games apiece. They have matched up just once in the playoffs, with the Chicago Sky running out winners in 2021.
Despite Dallas’ superior record last season, Chicago won all three regular-season contests. The Wings have only won one regular-season series against the Sky since 2017.
