Zalgiris have had a turbulent couple of months. It is not remembered in the near history of Lithuanian basketball when their team lost 5 consecutive games including the domestic league. They are falling off the Euroleague table as well and now they are sitting out of a playoff spot. Most of it is because of the injury problems they have faced recently.
They are missing all point guards on their team tonight as K. Evans is out with a tendon injury whilst I. Taylor is suffering from a muscle sprain. They are averaging only 75 PPG in this Euroleague campaign (only 68.5 last 3-game stretch). Their offence is not fluid without a natural PG and they are facing a lot of issues in the organization of positional play. Besides the aforementioned players, Zalgiris will be missing T. Cavanaugh with a back injury as well.
Baskonia are still hanging onto their top-8 spot. They have been producing offence out of thin air and clinching victories recently. They are the best offence in the league, averaging 85.8 PPG while shooting 38% behind the arc and 49% from the field overall. They have a lot of assisted baskets as well, averaging 20 assists per game, ranking thems second in the Euroleague in that regard.
It is safe to say we are expecting Baskonia’s tough offence to overrun the struggling home team. They have clinched a lot of impressive road victories and Zalgirio Arena should not scare them tonight. They will not be missing any players due to injuries.
Baskonia will try to stay in the fight for the top 8 and maintain good form whilst the home team will try to seek to break their losing streak. Without proper production from the PG position, we give a slight advantage to Baskonia although the current moneyline suggests otherwise.
