There are five scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with NH fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Catterick and Southwell to study on drying ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Yorkshire venue. AW fans have low grade action to study at Dundalk, Lingfield and Newcastle, with the lights coming on at 4.05pm on Tyneside and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.
In this article:
Moore Clouds
Catterick 2:35 (UK time)
Andrew Wilson does well with a very small team of horses each winter, and his unexposed 8-y-o chaser relished the sharp track at Sedgefield when winning for the second time over fences last time out. He remains open to plenty more improvement in this sphere after just eight career starts, and another attacking ride from Callum Bewley is likely to have these Class 5 rivals out of their comfort zone from an early stage on drying ground.
Odds: NA
Guernsey
Catterick 3:35 (UK time)
Jacquie Stephens 8-y-o has been catching the eye under some very negative rides on soft ground in recent months, and can bounce back to his best here with decent ground conditions expected to suit under Jamie Hamilton. He has won 2 from 25 career starts over hurdles (both on good ground from higher marks in better races), and showed at Kelso in November that he can go close from this sort of handicap mark granted a proper stamina test.
Odds: NA
