throughout the week very welcome in terms of competitiveness. Sligo stages the other NH action on a busy afternoon, while flat fans have some cracking racing at Doncaster, Dundalk, Newbury and Newcastle to get stuck into.

Sheila Lewis does well with her small string of horses, and this dual winning hurdler created a deep impression when making a winning debut over fences at Ffos Las 12 days ago. He jumped superbly there under a positive ride, easing clear on the bridle turning for home in a warm novice chase for the track, and there should be plenty more improvement in the tank.

Fergal O’Brien’s unexposed 7-y-o remains open to improvement over hurdles after just seven career starts, and he posted a terrific effort at this track over 3m in November when finishing second to Sporting John. He needs decent ground to be at his best, and seems sure to be fully fit for this seasonal reappearance with Paddy Brennan up and the yard remaining in terrific form.
