There are seven scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on a very busy Friday, with flat fans in for a varied afternoon. They have Curragh, Doncaster, Newcastle, Newmarket and Yarmouth to study, with some tough handicaps to try to solve at HQ (and the top local yards sure to be well represented in the traditionally strong novice/maiden contests). Jumping fans have big fields to attack at Bangor and Cartmel, with huge crowds assured at both tracks and excellent weather expected across the country.

James Fanshawe’s all-weather winner shaped a lot better than the bare result on his turf debut at Yarmouth last month, pulling hard early under restraint and weakening inside the final furlong. He looks sure to be well suited by a drop back to sprinting at Doncaster on Friday on fast ground, and remains open to loads of improvement after just five career starts (against some much more exposed northern rivals).
