There are five scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with NH fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Hexham and Newbury to study on testing ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Berkshire venue (and Nicky Henderson sure to be well represented). AW fans have lower grade action to study at Dundalk, Lingfield and Newcastle, with the lights coming on at 5.15pm at the latter track and the handicaps looking especially tricky for the time of year.

Abuffalosoldier
Newbury 2.30 (UK time)
Warren Greatrex has his team in good order at the moment, and his unexposed young chaser created a deep impression when getting off the mark over fences at this course 69 days ago. He improved off the back of a wind-operation there, jumping these bug fences superbly from the front under an attacking ride, and he can defy a 9lb rise up the handicap under regular rider James Bowen.
Odds: 5.0
Steel Ally
Newbury 3.33 (UK time)
Sam Thomas’s unexposed novice comes into this Newbury contest on the back of a very impressive win from the front at Wincanton in February, and his opening handicap mark looks very generous with Sam Twiston-Davies back in the saddle. His previous placed form on soft ground is rock solid, and this more galloping track (staying at two miles) should see him continue his upward curve under positive tactics.
Odds: 5.0
