There are seven meetings in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with competitive flat action keeping punters and bookmakers busy all through the afternoon and evening. Fixtures at Cork, Goodwood, Musselburgh, Newcastle (AW) and Newmarket provide a brilliant mixture of competitive handicaps and classy listed/group race action (with the start of the three day Guineas meeting at HQ very much the highlight). There is hunter chase NH action from Chelttenham, with the twilight fixture getting underway at 4.50pm and a huge crowd assured for their popular annual fixture, while Downpatrick begins at 5.05pm.

Charlie Appleby’s lightly raced and progressive 4-yo has won 6 of his 9 career starts to date, and posted top class efforts in victory and defeat in both the English and Irish 2000 Guineas last season. He will appreciate the drying ground conditions expected at Newmarket on Friday, and seems sure to be primed to make a winning reappearance after 261 days off under William Buick.
