There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Monday, with flat fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Kempton (AW) Redcar and Windsor to study, with some decent novice contests under lights to try to solve at the Sunbury venue (and the top Newmarket yards sure to be well represented). Jumps fans have decent grade action to study at Kelso, with the ground remaining on the softer side and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.
In this article:
Empty Nest
Kelso 3.00 (UK time)
Mark Walford has his small team in excellent form, and his unexposed young chaser has been found an excellent opportunity at Kelso on Monday. He found Catterick too sharp when a heavily backed 6/4f last time out, soon poorly placed and jumped stickily in the early stages, and should relish this more galloping track on soft ground (with improvement in the tank after just three runs over fences).
Odds: 5.50
Arctic Mann
Kelso 2.30 (UK time)
Nick Alexander’s consistent handicapper has been running well in the frame all winter in the north, and shaped as though in top form when second at Carlisle last month (dropped out in rear and travelled up smoothly to press the winner up the hill). He drops back in trip here to an extended 2m6f, but they should go a decent gallop with a couple of confirmed frontrunners in the line-up and he can pick these rivals off late under the talented 3lb claimer Bruce Lynn.
Odds: 7.00
