Saturday's Horse Racing Tips: Ascot, Haydock, Newmarket August 6th

Today’s Racing Tips – August 6th

There are 10 races live on ITV on Saturday, with the cameras rolling at Ascot, Haydock and Newmarket on what is sure to be a busy and frenetic afternoon of action. The Shergar Cup at Ascot is sure to attract the bulk of the betting interest, for all the team format has failed to inspire the racing public (crowd numbers in freefall even before the effect of covid).

All of the competitive handicaps on the card are for excellent prize money, and it is always fascinating to compare the different riding skills from all around the racing world. Both Haydock and Newmarket provide Group race action, with the Rose of Lancaster Stakes at 3.00pm often producing an extremely useful performer to follow into the autumn months on the turf.

Today’s Daily Nap

Count D’Orsay

Ascot 2:10 (UK time)

This consistent sprinter has been knocking on the door all summer, with a cracking fourth at Chester in July strongly suggesting he can land a race of this nature at five furlongs. He was not helped at all by a slipping saddle in the early stages there, and the stronger pace expected here on much quicker ground should suit ideally.

Odds: NA

Today’s Value Angle

Pretty Sweet

Ascot 3:20 (UK time)

George Boughey’s filly has long shaped as though worth a try at this two mile trip, looking one paced but finishing with running left in the tank in fair handicaps at Ascot and Newmarket in the last few weeks. She remains with upside in handicaps after just six career starts on the turf, and her current price makes plenty of appeal in slightly calmer waters here.

Odds: NA

Odds are best odds available as at 9am August 5th 2022. Odds may now differ.

ITV Racing Tips – Saturday August 6th

Time (UK) Track Horse Analysis
1:35 ASCOT DIVINE MAGIC Marco Botti’s filly has been a model of consistency all summer long, and seems sure to give her running again with fast ground conditions suiting ideally at Ascot on Saturday.
2:10 ASCOT COUNT D’ORSAY This consistent sprinter has been knocking on the door all summer, with a cracking fourth at Chester in July strongly suggesting he can land a race of this nature at five furlongs. He was not helped at all by a slipping saddle in the early stages there, and the stronger pace expected here on much quicker ground should suit ideally.
2:25 HAYDOCK FAME AND ACLAIM Les Eyre’s course and distance winner possibly found the run coming too soon when disappointing at Hamilton 39 days ago, and he is worth chancing to bounce back to the form of his win here in June under regular rider Lewis Edmunds.
2:45 ASCOT MAKE MY DAY Gary Moore’s handicapper has not stayed marathon trips in warm company on his last two starts, and is worth chancing here back at two miles on quick ground that suits ideally.
3:00 HAYDOCK INTELLOGENT Jane Chapple Hyam’s 7-y-o has an excellent record, winning 4 of his 26 career starts and amassing over 250k in prize money over the years. He has been running well in defeat all summer, and looked extremely unlucky when third in the John Smiths Cup at York last time out. This Group 3 represents a slight jump in class, but he seems sure to give his running again with fast ground ideal, and makes plenty of appeal at around the 6/1 mark.
3:20 ASCOT PRETTY SWEET George Boughey’s filly has long shaped as though worth a try at this two mile trip, looking one paced but finishing with running left in the tank in fair handicaps at Ascot and Newmarket in the last few weeks. She remains with upside in handicaps after just six career starts on the turf, and her current price makes plenty of appeal in slightly calmer waters here.
3:40 NEWMARKET ALSEYOOB Ismail Mohammed’s 2-y-o landed quite a touch on her debut over this course and distance 28 days ago, making all the running and finding plenty for pressure in the manner of an exciting prospect. She is now upped to Group 3 company back at Newmarket on Saturday, and should be open to plenty more improvement as she matures for more racing.
3:55 ASCOT VIA SERENDIPITY Charlie Fellowes handicapper has hinted at better a few times already this summer, catching there eye in the Hunt Cup at the Royal meeting here, and is worth forgiving a lesser effort under a negative ride at York 28 days ago.
4:30 ASCOT BERKSHIRE BREEZE This frustrating maiden has now finished in the frame without winning on all six career starts so far, running a career best when just touched off by Bague D’Or at this track last time out 28 days ago. That form has worked out really well, and a positive ride dropping back to 1m4f can see him snap a frustrating spell of expensive near-misses.
5:05 ASCOT TOLSTOY This progressive performer made a winning start on the all-weather when winning at Chelmsford 34 days ago, and remains open to more improvement now back on fast turf for the first time this summer.
