Saturday’s Horse Racing Tips: Haydock, Goodwood May 27th

Today’s Racing Tips – May 27th
A really busy Saturday of racing, with the ITV cameras covering the best of the flat action from Goodwood, Haydock and York. The recent sunny weather now means good, fast ground is likely to prevail across the country, and there are some cracking Group races which should prove very informative for the busy summer ahead on the turf. The Group 2 Temple Stakes at 3.30pm at Haydock is likely to attract some top class sprinters for the excellent prize money on offer, and all the top yards are sure to be represented.

Goodwood 2:05 (UK time)
Clive Cox is beginning to hit top form in recent weeks, and his progressive performer shaped well here over a mile earlier in the month. He remains open to plenty of improvement after just five career starts, and will hopefully prove a lot more settled in the early stages of this valuable Class 2 contest (with the drop back to 7f on faster ground a big positive to his chances).
Odds: NA
Today’s Value Angle
Cold Case
Haydock 3:00 (UK time)
Karl Burke has a cracking team to go to battle with on the turf the summer, and his 3-y-o posted a career best effort when making all at Ascot at the start of the month. This Group 2 represents a step up in class, but the fast ground will be ideal and he could take plenty of passing here under Clifford Lee if able to dominate proceedings from the stalls.
Odds: NA

ITV Racing Tips – Saturday May 27th
Time (UK) | Track | Horse | Analysis |
---|---|---|---|
1:15 | Haydock | In The Breeze | Mick Appleby’s handicapper has won only 1 of his 17 career starts, but he is now very well treated on the pick of his form. He has been running himself fit in recent starts, and this faster ground should suit ideally at Haydock on Saturday. |
1:30 | Goodwood | El Drama | Roger Varian’s useful sort has been running with credit in defeat in Meydan this winter, and has vital course experience of Goodwood in the book when finishing second to the top class Baaeed here in 2021 over a mile. |
1:50 | Haydock | Carzola | Ralph Beckett is one of the hottest yards in the country at the moment, with 12 winners in the last 14 days, and this progressive handicapper comes here on a four-timer after impressive wins at Lingfield (twice) and Doncaster. |
2:05 | Goodwood | Ancestral Land | Clive Cox is beginning to hit top form in recent weeks, and his progressive performer shaped well here over a mile earlier in the month. He remains open to plenty of improvement after just five career starts, and will hopefully prove a lot more settled in the early stages of this valuable Class 2 contest (with the drop back to 7f on faster ground a big positive to his chances). |
2:25 | Haydock | Gincident | TRichard Fahey’s handicapper has thrived on his racing in recent months, posting a cracking effort to land a competitive Musselburgh contest 27 days ago. A 7lb rise demands more, but he is fully fit, comes from a stable in great form, and a positive ride at this track on drying ground is never a bad plan of attack. |
2:40 | York | Mondammej | These 5f sprint handcaps can be something of a minefield for punters, with luck in running always playing a big part, but this exposed performer dropped a hint he was on the way back last time out when an eye-catching fourth over this course and distance. |
03:00 | Haydock | Cold Case | Karl Burke has a cracking team to go to battle with on the turf the summer, and his 3-y-o posted a career best effort when making all at Ascot at the start of the month. This Group 2 represents a step up in class, but the fast ground will be ideal and he could take plenty of passing here under Clifford Lee if able to dominate proceedings from the stalls. |
03:15 | York | Sea Flawless | William Haggas has brought this filly along with typical patience, and she was value for a lot more when making a winning turf debut at Beverley last time out (well backed and very strong at the finish having run green when first asked a question). This marked increase in trip uptown 1m6f seems sure to bring about plenty more improvement, and she remains with loads of upside as she gathers more racing experience. |
03:30 | Haydock | Twilight Calls | Henry Candy’s classy sprinter might just have needed the run when a shade disappointing on his seasonal reappearance at Newmarket (hampered leaving the stalls and tiring on the soft ground), but he should be an awful lot sharper now and this fast five furlongs on quickening ground should see him in a much better light. |
