2:05	Haydock	Playful Saint	Dan Skelton’s consistent handicapper comes here on the upgrade after just seven runs over hurdles, and is just the type to do a lot better on some spring ground in the coming weeks. He did not really handle the undulating rack at Stratford when getting tired on his seasonal return (still ran with credit in a close second to Milldam), but has been freshened up since and a strongly run two miles round here should be ideal.
2:25	Musselburgh	Darkness	David O’Meara’s 6-y-o is reliable when he gets his conditions, and he should relish the emphasis on speed over this sharpest of seven furlongs at Musselburgh on this seasonal reappearance. The yard has encouragingly been in the winners on the turf and all-weather in the last week, and he seems sure to be primed to make a winning return to the fray first time up.

3:00	Musselburgh	Silkie Wilkie	This five furlongs would be the quickest in the country alongside Epsom, and the early pace of Karl Burke’s speedball should be a real asset if he can break quickly from the stalls. The talented 7lb claimer Sam Fielden is sure to have him smartly away for this valuable £45,000 prize, and he can put his proven race fitness (from a few all-weather runs in recent weeks) to good use against these rivals.
3:15	Haydock	Le Ligerian	Joe Tizzard’s veteran retains plenty of his ability despite advancing years, and he seems sure to go close here if putting in an error-free round of jumping under regular rider Brendan Powell. The soft ground expected should suit ideally, and the presence of a couple of frontrunners should set things up ideally late on.
3:35	Musselburgh	Berkshire Rocco	Andrew Balding would not be the most regular visitor up to Scotland, and it looks significant that he sends his quirky performer up for this valuable Saturday prize. This 1m6f trip on easy ground should be his optimum under David Probert, and fitness first time up seems unlikely to be an issue given his excellent connections.
