Thursday’s Horse Racing Tips: Aintree, April 13th

Today’s Horse Racing Tips – April 13th
The start of the 3 day Aintree Grand National meeting is very much the highlight on Thursday, with a high class card attracting the top NH yards from Britain and Ireland. Constitution Hill is very much the star of the day, with his presence in the Grade 1 Aintree hurdle likely to scare off any serious opposition. Taunton stages the supporting jumps card, while AW fans have some low grade action from Chelmsford and Newcastle to get stuck into.

Banbridge
Aintree 1:45 (UK time)
Joseph O’Brien’s high class 7-y-o novice chaser tasted defeat for the second time over fences at Leopardstown in February, no match for El Fabiolo in a vintage renewal of the Irish Arkle (form well franked by the winner at Cheltenham). He now steps back up to 2m3f and, given that he is much more settled than in his early days, it could well unlock more improvement after just four runs over fences. The month break between the two festivals should mean that he has fully recovered from a relatively hard race, and the decent eased spring ground expected here will suit ideally.

Aintree 2:55 (UK time)
Gordon Elliott’s 9-y-o has won 5 of his 15 career starts over fences, and comes to Aintree on the back of a cracking effort when finishing a remote third behind the top class Galopin des Champs in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. He finished a cracking second in the 2022 renewal of this prestigious prize (left with plenty to do from rear initially) and, with his stamina for further well established, is likely to get a much more positive ride up on the pace this time around.
Odds: NA
