There are three surviving meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with NH fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Lingfield and Thurles to study on testing ground (after Huntingdon was waterlogged earlier in the week), with some decent handicaps to try to solve at Irish venue in particular. AW fans have decent grade action to study at Newcastle, with the lights coming on at 5.00pm and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.

Lingfield 3.15 (UK time)
Joe Tizzard’s promising mare shaped well on her chasing debut at Wincanton in December on decent ground, and is fancied to finally build on that effort at Lingfield on Thursday (three time winner over hurdles and well handicapped on that form especially). She jumped superbly throughout from the front there under a positive ride, and possesses plenty more potential than these more exposed rivals.

Dan Skelton’s maiden has yet to win after 12 career starts under Rules, but he should now be nearing peak fitness after four runs over fences this winter and a has a handy weight to carry here in deep ground. He shaped better than the bare result behind Patos at Ffos Las last time out (winner has followed up since in style), ridden with patience and not quite landing a blow, and a switch to front-running tactics by the excellent Harry Skelton could make him tough to pass up the straight.
Odds: NA
