There are five scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with flat fans in for an informative afternoon as the three-day Newmarket Craven meeting draws to a close. They also have a competitive card at Ripon to study on soft ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve, while AW fans have low grade action at Chelmsford (lights coming on at 5.30pm at the Essex track and the handicaps looking especially trappy). Followers of the jumps will head to Cheltenham, where the field sizes are likely to be big and ultra-competitive for the excellent prize money (ground watered to remove any jar), while Clonmel also race on a much softer surface.
