There are seven scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with flat fans in for a varied and busy afternoon and evening. They have Carlisle, Fairyhouse, Lingfield (AW) and Ripon to study on decent ground, with some tough handicaps to try to solve at the Cumbrian venue in the evening (and the top northern yards sure to be well represented in the novice/maiden contests). Jumps fans have low grade action to study at Ffos Las, Limerick and Warwick with huge summer holiday crowds certain at all three tracks.

Chilled Out
Ripon 3.15 (UK time)
Michael Wigham is a shrewd operator who is rarely far away when the cash is down, so it must have come as quite a surprise to see this unexposed sort bolt up at 25/1 last week on debut for the yard (particularly in a race where a stable companion attracted market support). He has been found a terrific opening to follow up in a small field at Ripon on Thursday, with eased ground to suit (and the scope to improve for these very astute connections after just six career starts on the turf).
Odds: 2.50
Ey up its the Boss
Ripon 4.20 (UK time)
Tony Coyle’s 5-y-o returned to his very best form here 11 days ago over course and distance, and can defy a small rise up the weights here under the promising claiming rider Jack Enright. He needs a good pace to aim at (needs settling initially in rear as can take a keen grip), but there are a couple of frontrunners in the line-up and he can pounce late at a track that plays to his strengths.
Odds: 5.50
