There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with NH fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Clonmel, Fontwell and Wetherby to study on testing ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Sussex venue (and local maestro Gary Moore sure to be well represented on a varied card). AW fans have decent grade action to study at Southwell, with the lights coming on at 5.30pm at the Midlands track and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.

Royal Mer
Wetherby 3.20 (UK time)
David Pipe’s improving young chaser showed a good attitude under pressure to win his third race over fences at Leicester last time out (found plenty on the deep ground up the long straight), and he has been found a good opening to defy a career high mark at Wetherby on Thursday. Jack Tudor is an excellent replacement for Harry Cobden, and he seems sure to appreciate the better ground conditions staying at this two mile trip.
Odds: 5.50
Magical King
Wetherby 3.55 (UK time)
Stuart Edmunds has hit red hot form now after a largely very disappointing winter, and his unexposed handicapper served notice he was in cracking fettle when winning a novice hurdle here last time out (well backed 8/15f). He remains open to plenty more improvement after just six runs over hurdles (stepping up to 2m5f), and can land this modest Class 4 contest before rattling up a sequence in the spring.
Odds: 5.50
