Friday is dominated by the fourth day of Royal Ascot, with a really competitive card and some top class racing throughout the afternoon.
This is very much a day for sprint fans, with three of the seven races held over five or six furlongs, and the highlight coming with the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at 3.40pm.
This valuable prize was inaugurated in 2015 as part of a major reshaping of the international sprinting calendar, and in 2019 saw a minor shock as Advertise and Frankie Dettori landed the spoils (giving small trainer Martyn Meade a very popular victory at the highest level).
The Coronation Stakes at 4.20pm has a long history of top class performances over the years, and promises to be a very high class Group 1 this year with the best 3-y-o milers all locking horns (and Aidan O’Brien sure to have an extremely strong hand as usual).

David Loughnane’s classy sprinter impressed from the front over this course and distance on his seasonal reappearance, and looked a very unlucky loser when well backed to follow up in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock 27 days ago.
He lost all chance when stumbling at the stalls there, finishing strongly from an impossible position into a closing fourth behind El Caballo, and will relish the fast ground certain at Royal Ascot on Friday. Rossa Ryan retains the ride, and there still should be plenty more improvement in the tank after just nine career starts.

David and Nicola Barron’s progressive handicapper did plenty wrong when landing the cash at Haydock 20 days, racing freely under restraint and doing plenty mid-race to hit the front two furlongs out, essentially winning in the style of one who remains well ahead of his mark.
He steps up in class here, but the much stronger early gallop in a big field seems sure to suit him, and he makes plenty of appeal at double figures this morning under regular rider Ben Curtis.
