There are 4 meetings in the UK on Monday, with flat turf action at a modest level from Musselburgh, Pontefract and Windsor. The Berkshire venue will be expecting a huge crowd for their usual evening fixture by the river, and there are five competitive handicaps for the punters to get stuck into on the prevailing fast ground. NH fans have Southwell to study, where low grade handicaps are the order of the day and field sizes are likely to be on the small side.

Charlie Appleby’s 2-y-o has shaped well in defeat on his debut at Yarmouth when well backed, and probably hated the softer ground when landing the odds in workmanlike style at Haydock last time out. He will relish the fast ground expected at Pontefract on Monday, and a positive front-running ride from William Buick can see him defy a penalty (far rail often a big advantage at this course).
