Today's Horse Racing Tips: Saturday July 9th

Today’s Racing Tips – July 9th
A very busy day on ITV racing on Saturday, with the cameras at three tracks and a full afternoon of high class flat racing on the cards. Newmarket stage the final day of their popular July meeting, with the Group 1 July Cup at 4.25pm sure to attract a top class field of sprinters on the prevailing fast ground.
There is also Group race action at York, where the 2.20pm Silver Cup provides a stern test of stamina over the 1m6f trip. Punters have six competitive handicaps to get stuck into, with the 3.00pm at Ascot over five furlongs likely to attract a big field of progressive sprinters with the excellent prize money on offer.
Today’s Daily Nap
Isaac Shelby
Newmarket 3:15pm
Brian Meehan would not be known for first time out juvenile winners in general, but his Night of Thunder created a deep impression when winning on debut at Newbury in May. He steps up markedly in class at Newmarket on Saturday, but seems sure to improve dramatically for that initial experience and should go close here under Sean Levey.
Odds: 4.50
Today’s Value Angle
Rhoscolyn

David O’Meara’s 4-y-o has been running himself fit this summer, and caught the eye in a huge field at the Royal meeting, finishing strongly from miles back to finish third behind Inver Park.

Saturday ITV Racing Tips – July 9th
Time | Track | Selection | Analysis |
---|---|---|---|
1:45 | YORK | ISLA KAI | Nigel Tinkler has hit a real purple patch with 6 winners in the last fortnight, and this useful handicapper shaped really well when finishing s creditable sixth in the Royal Hunt Cup last time out (fifth home Sinjaari has since franked the form in style since at Sandown). |
2:05 | NEWMARKET | VICTORIA GROVE | Henry Spiller is a young trainer worth following over the next few seasons, and his improving filly looks on a lenient opening mark now going handicapping on the back of an impressive win from the front at Lingfield 35 days ago. |
2.20 | YORK | WITHOUT A FIGHT | Simon and Ed Crisford’s useful stayer has now won 6 of his 15 career starts, and impressed over this course and distance when winning 28 days ago under a confident ride from Andrea Atzeni. |
2:40 | NEWMARKET | JIMI HENDRIX | Ralph Beckett has his team in blistering form with 8 winners in the last fortnight, and this unexposed 3-y-o posted a terrific effort when finishing third of 30 runners in the Britannia at Royal Ascot last time out. |
3:00 | ASCOT | TABDEED | Archie Watson’s speedball lost all chance when slowly away and badly hampered at the start at Royal Ascot, and is well worth a other chance to confirm the promise shown at Haydock and Windsor already this summer, with Hollie Doyle booked to take the ride. |
3:15 | NEWMARKET | ISAAC SHELBY | Brian Meehan would not be known for first time out juvenile winners in general, but his Night of Thunder created a deep impression when winning on debut at Newbury in May. He steps up markedly in class at Newmarket on Saturday, but seems sure to improve dramatically for that initial experience and should go close here under Sean Levey. |
3:35 | ASCOT | MUTASAABEQ | Charles Hills useful performer let down backers in the Diomed at Epsom last time out, but he looked ill at ease on the camber there trying to close from well off the pace, and this track should suit him a lot better upped in class to a Group 2. |
3:50 | NEWMARKET | RHOSCOLYN | David O’Meara’s 4-y-o has been running himself fit this summer, and caught the eye in a huge field at the Royal meeting, finishing strongly from miles back to finish third behind Inver Park. |
4:05 | YORK | JUST FINE | Sir Michael Stoute’s handicapper had been progressing really well until suffering a rough trip at Royal Ascot (pulled hard early then hampered/switched back inside to try to close from a poor position under Ryan Moore), and he is worth another chance here with conditions to suit and Richard Kingscote taking over. |
4:25 | NEWMARKET | PERFECT POWER | Richard Fahey’s stable star showed that sprinting was very much his game when impressively landing the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, and he has optimum conditions to follow up here in this valuable Group 1 prize. |
4:40 | YORK | MAKANAH | Julie Camacho’s sprinter is a real model of consistency in these valuable prizes, and he showed York really suited him when finishing a cracking second in a huge field back in May. |
