The incredible spell of extremely hot weather has taken its toll on the racing fixtures on Tuesday, with just an afternoon flat card at Musselburgh and an evening jumps fixture at Ballnrobe surviving. The betting interest is sure to be higher than normal with so much less action for the punters and bookmakers, and the ground is sure to be quickening up all the time (with watering assured at both to keep the jar out).

Charlie and Mark Johnston have their team in terrific form as usual, with 13 winners in the last fortnight, and this promising juvenile filly is worth another chance after disappointing when well backed at Pontefract 30 days ago. She had looked a surefire future winner when finishing a promising second behind Mascapone at Chelmsford in June, and her latest effort is easy enough to excuse (free out wide and wilted up the stiff final climb).

Ruth Carr’s veteran handicapper has been running with credit in defeat all summer at a slightly higher level, and shaped well over a mile here last time out (no extra inside the final furlong having challenged strongly up the straight). This drop back to seven furlongs should suit ideally, and a positive ride from the front by James Sullivan can work the oracle in this modest class 5.
