There are three scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with NH fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Newcastle and Taunton to study on drying ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Somerset venue (and Paul Nicholls sure to be well represented). AW fans have decent grade action to study at Southwell, with the floodlights coming on at 5.15pm at the Midlands track and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.
In this article:
King Turgeon
Taunton 3.50 (UK time)
David Pipe’s chaser has been running himself down to a good mark in three poor runs on deep ground in recent months, and should relish the drying spring ground conditions expected at Taunton on Tuesday. He was a good winner on decent ground at Exeter in November, and a positive ride from Jack Tudor at this sharp track could make him extremely hard to pass up the short straight.
Odds: 4.50
Fortune Forever
Taunton 3.20 (UK time)
Fergal O’Brien remains in brilliant form as the NH season rolls into spring, with 5 winners in the last fortnight, and his unexposed mare should relish this step up in trip to three miles for the first time. She caught the eye on handicap debut at Hereford last time out, running on strongly to take a closing fourth, and there should be plenty more improvement in the tank after just four starts so far over hurdles (with Tom Broughton taking off a handy 5lb to relieve the burden of topweight).
Odds: 5.50
