Game 2 of the Western Conference finals now has to live up to the madness of goal-scoring that came from the opening game of the series on Tuesday night. Our resident U.S sports expert Ej Garr expects even more pucks to be in the back of the net and the line setters have the same idea in mind.

Colorado vs. Edmonton Best Bet

June 2, UK 01:00 time

I know you enjoyed pocketing the cash from our game 1 preview because the Over 7 was done not 5 minutes into the second period. So, I’ll turn to the total again, and the hell if we are playing around with the line setters for Game 2 on Thursday night. I need to post a screenshot of the game 2 lines before the series started because the total is obviously nowhere close to what it was just 3 days ago.

On Monday night, the line setters posted the game 1 and game 2 odds and the total was 7 for game 1 and 6.5 for game 2 at 1.94. I know, imagine getting 6.5 now? Pipe dream!

So, now what you see is an O/U of 7.5 at most sites because of the 14 goals we watched get scored in game 1. We’re not fooling around with that because Pinnacle is showing 2.33 for the Over 8 and that is where the value is for game 2. You can surely settle for that 7.5 with a reasonable line of about even money but we’re not here to make muffins, we’re making the whole cake!

Edmonton’s Evander Kane scored the first goal of game 1 and to this point of the playoffs, the Oilers had been 6 – 0 scoring the first goal of the contest. Well, that went up in flames because I mentioned the one thing Colorado does in this building in my game 1 preview and that’s scoring goals! JT Compher scored the equalizer 36 seconds after Kane’s goal and the writing was on the wall for what was about to transpire.

Nate MacKinnon made it 2 – 1 with 5 minutes left in the opening frame as the Avalanche had outshot the Oilers 11 – 3 at that juncture of the good ole hockey game. Zach Hyman levelled the score at 2 – 2 with just 22 seconds left to play in the 1st period and I still can’t believe they allowed the next goal we saw. He was offside! I know, we will all just shut up and take it because it gave us 5 of the 7 goals we needed in just one period, but that should have been disallowed, to be honest.

So, a 3 – 2 game turned into a 4 – 2 affair just 32 seconds into the 2nd period and the Oilers came up with our 7th goal 3 minutes into the stanza to make it 4 – 3. Both goaltenders were nowhere near the ice when the rest of the action unfolded as Smith and Kuemper were both benched and we went to the 3rd period watching a 7 – 4 game.

The Oilers made a valiant comeback scoring 3 unanswered goals to make it 7 – 6 after Landeskog took a stupid penalty that lead to the 6th puck in the net. At 7 – 6, the Oilers pulled their backup goals and left the net unattended for the Avs to send the crowd home in a good mood with an 8- 6 win. Stupid fun game to watch so we can only hope they continue to have success pouring shots at the frame and scoring goals!

Like I said, the hell with the 7.5 because we have bigger tickets to cash. Fancy a wager on the Over 8 so we can build a snowman in June! A 4 – 4 game going to OT would suit us all just fine but they might get there before the third period even starts, again!
