Golden State Warriors Stats & Analysis
The Golden State Warriors have had a very inconsistent season, largely due to injuries. With Klay Thompson and James Wiseman out for the season, the Warriors have struggled to find their game and go on a long winning streak.
However, their recent run of seven victories in 10 games has given them new energy and they find themselves in eighth place in the west. They have won four games in a row and are coming off a crucial victory over the Phoenix Suns.
The Warriors have only their offense to blame for their mediocre performance this season. They struggled to get high-quality shots inside and relied mostly on three-pointers to get the job done. Though they found success with this tactic in the past, their team is much different and a change in tactic is needed.
They have been near the middle of the pack in both offense and defense this season. But their high three-point attempt and percentage numbers have been their saving grace. They shoot 38,7 three-pointers per game and make 37% of them.
They are first in the league in assists with 27,7 per game, but their 15 turnovers per game have ranked them 24th in the NBA.
New Orleans Pelicans Stats & Analysis
The New Orleans Pelicans are having another disappointing season and they will miss the playoffs once again. They have split their last 10 games with five wins and five defeats, but they are on a two-game losing streak.
Their offense has been good this season, but their defense has prevented them from becoming a very formidable team. Their defensive rating of 113,8 has ranked them 22nd in the NBA, which is not enough for a team with playoff aspirations.
Hart, Ball and Zion will definitely miss this upcoming game, crippling their chances of keeping this game competitive. But Adams and Ingram may play in this one, which would give them a much-needed overall boost.
The Pelicans have been excellent at rebounding the basketball this year. But their lateral defense has allowed opponents to shoot a high percentage of open shots from behind the line. They shared the ball well with 26,1 assists per game, and they have shot a very high percentage of two-point shots, largely because of Zion Williamson.
That said, their three-point shooting has been terrible this year. Not only are they near the bottom of the league in attempts, but the ones they do bounce off the rim.
Warriors vs Pelicans Bets
The Warriors are on a tear in their recent games and are smiling at a playoff appearance this year. Steph Curry has been playing as well as can be expected, and Wiggins has also been in excellent shape. The Warriors are also playing solid defense during this run and are fourth in the NBA in defensive rating in the last five games. They’ve been making 18,2 threes per game during this run and with the Pelicans’ poor defense, this might just be a blowout.
We have the Warriors covering the -5,5 point spread at 1,95 odds.
