Australia vs Ireland Recent Form

Australia didn’t have to go through qualifiers as they were voted as hosts alongside New Zealand. It is the first time that the Women’s World Cup will be played in the Land Down Under, while it is the seventh time the Matildas are playing. However, they haven’t gotten past the quarterfinals, a feat that they have made three times so far.

Surprisingly, the Australian women are in excellent form leading up to the tournament. They won eight out of 10 friendly matches. They even have a win over the current European Champion, England. The Australian girls defeated the Lionesses by 2:0 in a friendly match.

Ireland came to the tournament after finishing second behind Sweden in Group A of the European zone of qualifiers. They clinched their spot by defeating Scotland in the added playoffs tournament by 1:0 away at Glasgow.

Their current form is solid. The Girls in Green won five out of their ten most recent games and they also had three losses and a single draw. The games that they lost were against powerhouses of women’s football, twice against the USA and once, and most recently, to France (3:0).

Australia vs Ireland Head to Head

Australia and Ireland are not complete unknowns to each other, but they have played only once. It was actually wasn’t that long ago as they faced an international friendly that ended in favour of the Republic of Ireland by 3:2. This time, the Matildas are the home team and are highly touted to start the competition with a win over the Girls in Green.

Australia vs Ireland Betting Tips

The main Australia vs Ireland Prediction is that the home team will start the competition with a win. The odds for Australia to win are 1.38. On the other hand, Irelan’s win comes at 10.00, which is really good, but not really possible for the Girls in Green to make an early upset.

Additionally, there are some other interesting markets to consider. Over 2.75 Goals is at 1.96, while more than 3.00 Goals is 2.29. A -1.5 Asian Handicap on the home team is 2.03 odds.
