The La Liga title race is still in the balance and our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Barcelona vs Celta Vigo Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.

Barcelona edged past Leganes on the road last weekend, securing all three points thanks to an own goal in the second half. With a midweek trip to Germany to contend with, Barcelona have a hectic period ahead of them – but return home to face Celta Vigo on Saturday

The visitors lost their eight match unbeaten run against Espanyol, but having held the hosts earlier in the campaign, they too will be hopeful of securing another key point at the weekend.

Barcelona vs Celta Vigo Prediction: Visitors can make life difficult

Spain, La Liga, Saturday, April 19th, 15:15 (UK)

Barcelona sit four points clear at the top of La Liga. It’s their title to lose, but with a hectic schedule ahead of them, it might not be completely plain sailing as we saw last weekend.

Although Hansi Flick’s side got the job done on the road against Leganes, it was a second half own goal from Jorge Saenz that helped secure the three points. Against a side that has recently conceded three against Real Madrid and Betis, as well as two vs Celta Vigo, it wasn’t the best performance from the league leaders this campaign.

But three points are three points, and that is all Barcelona will care about as we enter a very important part of the season. Fortunately the Spanish side take a 4-0 lead into their second leg against Dortmund in the Champions League – and if Flick can avoid an unlikely comeback from the Germans, he can afford to rest some players in the second half.

But three days after their match with Celta Vigo, they welcome Mallorca to their ground, before a showdown with Real Madrid no less than four days later in the Copa del Rey final.

Players will need to be managed over this period where Barcelona will play four matches in 12 days. Celta Vigo, on the other hand, will play just two matches as they focus on securing a European spot for next season.

And they head into this match in rather good form. Although suffering a disappointing 2-0 loss last weekend against Espanyol, that was their first loss in eight matches. In fact, they also lost the reverse fixture – so perhaps they were Celta Vigo’s bogey team this season.

The visitors have only lost by a two goal margin on four occasions – but three of those came in 2024. In 2025, their performances have improved, and they’ve slowly climbed up the table and now sit in 7th spot.

Celta Vigo fought back bravely from 2-0 down in the reverse fixture to secure a valuable point against Barcelona – which bodes well for my selection. With Celta tightening up defensively, and with Barcelona’s hectic period, the +1.5 Asian Handicap at odds-against is too inviting.

Unbeaten in four on the road – including a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid – Celta Vigo have proven to be tricky customers on their travels, who’s three at the back with full-backs makes them a tight unit to break down.

Barcelona are expected to win – and should – but it shouldn’t be quite as simple as the bookmakers currently believe – which gives the visitors an advantage this weekend.

Barcelona vs Celta Vigo Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups

Barcelona head to Germany midweek for their Champions League tie with Dortmund – and we will have to wait and see if they pick up any fresh injuries from that fixture. The only confirmed absentee for their clash against Celta Vigo remains Dani Olmo, who looks set to miss the remainder of the season with a groin injury. Robert Lewandowski will no doubt lead the line, but if Barcelona get their noses in front, expect the Polish forward to be pulled and protected for future matches.

Celta Vigo will head to Barcelona without forward Jones El Abdellaoui who has a thigh injury. Former Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso will line up as part of the back line, while 37-year-old Iago Aspas continues to lead the line for the visitors.

Barcelona possible starting lineup:
Pena; Balde, Cubarsi, Araujo, Kounde, Pedri, Casado, Raphinha, Gavi, Yamal, Lewandowski

Celta Vigo possible starting lineup:
Guaita; Mingueza, Alonso, Starfelt, Rodriguez, Carreira, Beltran, Sotelo, Aspas, Gonzalez, Duran
