Brentford vs Brighton Prediction - Premier League
Our resident Brighton fan Matthew O’Regan has his Brentford vs Brighton preview prediction as the sides meet at the G-Tech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The pair played out a drab 0-0 draw on the South Coast in December, as well as this same fixture last year, but a more high-scoring affair is expected this week.
Brentford vs Brighton Prediction
England, Premier League, Saturday, April 19th , 15:00 (UK)
Unless Crystal Palace win the FA Cup, eighth place is enough for a place in the Europa Conference League. This has given The Bees a slight chance of European football for the first time in their history. Thomas Frank’s side are five points behind Bournemouth, Fulham and Brighton so a monumental effort in the final six games is needed.
Brentford’s season has been a frustrating and confusing one. The Bees prided themselves on their home form but havent won in front of their own fans since the 7th December where they dismantled Newcastle 4-1 to maintain their eight game unbeaten run at home. Since then, they have taken just three points from seven, drawing three and losing four of these games.
Away from home, they failed to eight of their first ten away games, with the exceptions of 0-0s at Everton and Brighton. They then dismantled Southampton 0-5, starting a five game winning run, before losing 2-1 to Newcastle. A 1-1 draw with a rotated Arsenal side last time out highlighted The Bees strength. With 52 goals scored and 48 conceded in the league, their games are averaging 3.125 goals, with 11/16 home games and 21/32 in total seeing both teams score.
Brighton are another side blighted by inconsistency. A 7-0 away loss at Nottingham Forest meant that a mid table finish seemed a given, but six straight wins lifted the mood on the South Coast again. This was followed up by a 2-2 draw at Manchester City before the international break – a game the Seagulls were perhaps unlucky not to win.
However, since then, Albion were knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Nottingham Forest, beaten 0-3 at home to Aston Villa, lost 2-1 at bitter rivals Crystal Palace and were held to a 2-2 draw at home to a Leicester side who had lost 14 of their last 15 games. Sat in 10th, Fabian Hurzeler’s side are only outside the European places on goal difference so all hope is not lost, but the German will be desperate for a reaction in West London.
Like Brentford, Brighton games have seen exactly 100 goals for an average of 3.125 per game. Over 2.5 goals has landed in a league high 23/32 for Brighton, including their last nine. With injury and fitness issues in the Albion defence, it would not be a surprise to see Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo have some joy in front of goal.

Brentford vs Brighton Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups Prediction: Injuries For Both
Both sides have seen their seasons hampered by injuries. While they are slowly getting players back, the hosts are still without Aaron Hickey, Fabio Carvalho, Thiago Rodrigues and Josh Da Silva. Thomas Frank is expected to name an unchanged side.
Due to injuries and suspensions, Carlos Baleba filled in at centre back against Leicester and impressed. Jan Paul van Hecke is back from suspension so will slot straight back in, but Lewis Dunk’s worrying recent performances may see the Cameroonian retain his place at the back. Igor Julio is nearing a return but Saturday should come too soon. Jason Steele, Adam Webster, Ferdi Kadioglu, Georginio Rutter, James Milner, Joel Veltman and Tariq Lamptey will all miss out again, whereas the extent of the injury that kept Kaoru Mitoma out of the draw with Leicester is unknown.
Brentford possible starting lineup:
Flekken; Ajer, Collins,Van Den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Norgaard, Janelt, Damsgaard; Schade, Wissa, Mbeumo
Brighton possible starting lineup:
Verbruggen; Hinshelwood, Van Hecke, Baleba, Estupinan; Gomez, Ayari; Minteh, Pedro, Mitoma; Welbeck
