France continues their title defensive run in the Round of 16 matches against Poland. Even after losing their last match against Tunisia, Les Bleus are one of the biggest favourites to reclaim the trophy. But they first have to go through the sturdy Polish side.

France vs Poland – Form and Team News

Didier Deschamps had both injury problems leading up to the tournament as well as on it. Les Bleus have been riddled with injuries, but still managed to qualify for the elimination round after two matches.

First, they defeated Australia by 4:1 and then they dispatched their toughest opponents in the group, Denmark, by 2:1. Unfortunately, they weren’t as lucky in their last game as their combined squad lost to Tunisia by 1:0. Either way, it was enough for them to take the first spot in Group D and advance further.

Poland went through a very interesting group stage, to say the least. They opened things up with a goalless draw versus Mexico. Then they earned their first and only victory against Saudia Arabia by 2:0. Finally, they finished the group with a defeat versus Argentina by 2:0.

This brought them level on points, with Mexico at four. But thanks to Salem Al-Dawsari, the Saudi winger, who scored an insignificant goal for his team in the dying seconds of the match against Mexico, the Biało-Czerwoni went through thanks to goal difference.
