We head to the middleweight division where Phil Hawes and Jacob Malkoun will lock horns in an exciting bout between two prospects. Both guys will be making their UFC debut on Saturday. Hawes is heading into this fight with a win on DWCS.
While I always like undefeated fighters in the UFC, I’d be lying if I said I think Malkoun can get the W here. The guy is 4-0 with his MMA career as a pro kicking off just 3 years ago. The man is simply too green for the UFC, and Hawes has at least faced decent competition in Bellator and on DWCS. Hawes may not be a world-beater, but in a matchup like this, experience means everything – and experience is on Hawes’ side.
Mix this with a nice little 3-inch reach advantage for Hawes and we’ve got ourselves a prediction.
Prediction: Phil Hawes via first-round TKO.
