Alex Cobb returns from the injured list to start for the San Francisco Giants at Citi Field. Cobb, with a 3.09 ERA, might have been an All-Star if he’d stayed healthy. The Giants have been the hottest team in the Majors over the last two-and-a-half months, despite losing a series to the Blue Jays in midweek.
New York lost three out of four to the Brewers. They have had an abysmal June, going 6-18 since winning on the first day of the month. Carlos Carrasco is starting on Friday night with his ERA and xERA well over six.

Carrasco has by far the worst walk rate of his career, which is an issue against a walk-heavy Giants offence. Where New York’s relievers are well below league-average this month, the Giants have been elite. It’s baffling that San Francisco is as long as 1.83 to win this one.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers Preview

Since the start of last month, the Pirates and Brewers are two of the three worst offensive teams in the Majors, according to wRC+. Only the Athletics have scored fewer runs.
The total is set at 8.5 runs for this game, however. Just three teams have hit the under more often than Milwaukee this season. Plus, Freddy Peralta and Osvaldo Bido hold solid enough underlying metrics to suggest they can have decent outings.

Los Angeles Angels vs Arizona Diamondbacks Preview

Over the last two months, the Angels and Diamondbacks boast two of the six best offences in the Majors. Their bullpens are middle-of-the-pack this month.
In Tommy Henry and Griffin Canning, the two starters are okay, but not much better. This total has perhaps been nudged down by their strong starts last time out, yet there’s little to indicate they will replicate that here. Both have xERAs starting with four.
Los Angeles Angels vs Arizona Diamondbacks Best Bet
Henry pitches to contact, which can be a dangerous strategy against an Angels lineup with plenty of power. Canning misses more bats, but he’s in just the 10th percentile in hard-hit rate.
While the Angels offence can be streaky, and the Diamondbacks have just played two low-scoring games with the Rays, there’s still value on the over here. Henry and Canning are likely to give up a handful of runs apiece, then it’s just a question of either bullpen leaking a couple.
