After an eventful All-Star break, the MLB season gets back underway on Friday night. Teams had an opportunity to reset, get healthy and prepare for the second half of the season, which promises to be fascinating with tight Playoff races in both leagues.

Ross Stripling’s move to The Bay has not gone as planned thus far, reflected by an ERA in the sixes. The former Dodger is making just his eighth start of the year due to openers, bullpen appearances and injury.
San Francisco worked with Stripling during his time on the injured list, and he’s returned looking more like the pitcher who impressed for Toronto in 2022. He matches up with Rich Hill, who has given up three or more earned runs in five straight starts and conceded six to the Giants earlier this season.
Pittsburgh has the worst offence in the Majors over the last month. San Francisco slumped before the break, and Stripling has had some difficult outings, but this price still seems far too long on a Giants win.

Carlos Rodon led all starters in strikeouts per nine innings in 2022. He has made just one start in 2023, and only sat K’d two Chicago Cubs. Rodon showed no signs of declining fastball velocity in his first start of the year, however, and generated seven swing and misses in 69 pitches.
The Rockies have the highest strikeout rate over the last month. Only six teams see fewer pitches per plate appearance, which should mean Rodon can work relatively deep into the game even with the Yankees controlling his workload.
Rodon struck out 10 Rockies in his final start as a Giant. He went over this line in 24 of 31 starts in 2022.

Brayan Bello and Kyle Hendricks both have strong numbers on the season, albeit with less impressive underlying metrics. Hendricks’ high-contact approach can get him in to trouble, as was shown in his last start. Bello has allowed two or fewer earned runs in his last five starts, but he’s giving up more hard contact than you’d like to see and not generating many strikeouts.
There is fair reason to wonder about the sustainability of the results for each of these pitchers. Bello has been the steadier arm throughout the year, however, and he’s backed up by a more dangerous offence (Red Sox have a 110 wRC+ over the last month compared with Chicago’s 98).
Chicago has won just six of 16 home games when favoured, while Boston carried an 8-1 run into the break. Since their first game in London, the Cubs have gone 5-9.
The Red Sox have a slight edge in the starting department and on offence. With both teams possessing solid bullpens, the Red Sox are good value to pick up another win here.

Acca odds: 6.06
Odds as of 12:00 pm on July 14, 2023. Odds may now differ.
A baseball acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A baseball acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create MLB accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the baseball acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
