Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates Preview

Starting for Washington, Chad Kuhl is an underdog against his former team. Kuhl is a career 89 ERA+ pitcher, and has started awfully in 2023, with a 7.36 ERA and an expected number just as bad. Pittsburgh is fifth in xwOBA – they have won nine of their last 10.

Veteran southpaw Rich Hill gets the ball for the surging Pirates. Since allowing seven runs to the White Sox, he has conceded just four earned runs over 17 innings. Washington is one of the league’s worst offences, and is unlikely to cause Hill too much trouble.
