While both teams have enjoyed playing the underdog role in the MLB Playoffs this season, the Diamondbacks find themselves at 2.60 to open the World Series on the road this Friday night in Texas. Arizona has played a total of 12 playoff games in this year’s postseason, and guess how many times they were listed as the underdogs?

ALL OF THEM! Arizona has been slighted by the line setters since the playoffs started, and all they have done is take out Milwaukee, the Dodgers, and the Phillies en route to their second World Series appearance. If you recall as well as I did when the Yankees were considerable favourites to take out Arizona in the 2001 World Series, those Snakes earned their first title, and now this group of guys is in the same position.

Texas swept Tampa Bay and Baltimore in the first two rounds of the MLB Playoffs, and as underdogs in Game 7 in Houston, the Astros bats blasted out an 11 – 4 win to put themselves in this position.

Arizona won 3 of the 4 regular season meetings between them, and Zac Gallen started two of those affairs pitching a combined 11 innings earning a win and a no-decision in the two efforts.

Gallen is expected to start Game 1 of the World Series with Nate Eovaldi getting the opening nod for the Rangers. Eovaldi saved the Snakes’ bacon starting Game 6 of the ALCS with the Astros up 3 – 2 in a position to clinch their spot in the World Series. Nate is a perfect 4 – 0 in the playoffs, and that’s likely why they are considerable favourites to jump out to a 1 – 0 lead in this year’s World Series.

I am suggesting that you grab the Diamondbacks +1.5 handicap even though the juice is marginal at 1.75. We are putting that in a 4-game combo because I expect a trio of players to come up with a hit to open this series on Friday night.

A TRIO OF PLAYERS GRAB A HIT IN GAME 1

Adolis Garcia! I mean, talk about a man on a mission, right? With 10 hits from his 28 plate appearances, Garcia amassed a 1.293 OPS with five home runs, and seven runs scored while driving in 15 RBI. The ACLS MVP smashed a pair of home runs in Game 7 against Houston going 4 for 5 with a handful of runs batted in, and if anyone deserves to be in this combo it is undoubtedly him!

Ketel Marte! Hi, I love Ketel One Vodka, and I love what Ketel Marte has been doing throughout the postseason. With a current 16-game postseason hitting streak, there is reason to expect him to pick up a base knock in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night. Until someone proves they can stop him, we just keep letting him do what he does!

Corbin Carroll! Carroll blasted 3 hits in Game 7 of the NLCS against the Phillies, and he stuffed the stat sheet all around. With a pair of stolen bases, he drove in two of the four runs and scored the other two in a 4 – 2 win to wrap up the NLCS. I’d say that’s a confidence booster if there ever was one, and I am including him in this same-game parlay hoping that he carries that momentum into Friday night.
