Atlanta Hawks vs Cleveland Cavaliers Best Bet: Cavs To Add Win In Atlanta

Atlanta Hawks vs Cleveland Cavaliers Best Bet: Tuesday, March 28th
The 37-38 Atlanta Hawks are slight underdogs at home to the 48-28 Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night. Atlanta is fighting to stay in the top half of the Play-In Tournament, while Cleveland is cosily sitting in fourth with a comfortable lead over the New York Knicks to guarantee homecourt advantage in the first round.
Injuries are not much of a concern with Atlanta, with Jalen Johnson being the only player on the report. Raul Neto and Danny Green are confirmed absentees for the Cavaliers. Jarrett Allen remains questionable. Isaac Okoro and Dean Wade are doubtful for this one.

Atlanta Hawks vs Cleveland Cavaliers Preview

Since losing to Boston on the first day of this month, Cleveland has gone 9-2. That run includes road wins in Miami, Charlotte and Brooklyn. Playing away from home has been a weakness for this Cavaliers group, but they appear to have addressed some of those woes, albeit primarily against less-talented opposition.
Atlanta, meanwhile, have continued to take one step forward and one back. Wins are often followed by losses. They are 8-8 since All-Star, 18th in net rating for the season, and have gone just 16-22 against teams above .500.
The Hawks beat these Cavs in the first game after the break, tying the season series at one win apiece heading into this matchup. Since then, Atlanta’s only wins have come against the retooling Brooklyn Nets, the road Warriors and teams destined for the lottery. Wins against good teams have been few and far between – Quin Snyder’s appointment has not had the quick impact that the front office must have been hoping for.
These Hawks are a bottom-10 defensive team on the season, and worse than that since the break. Cleveland is the league’s best defence across the whole season, contributing to the second-best net rating. The offence can stagnate at times, but they are still ninth overall and 10th in the second part of the campaign.
Even under Snyder, Atlanta’s three-point volume is low. Going to the rim is rarely an option with Evan Mobley and Allen on the court.

At the other end, hiding Trae Young on defence is trickier if Okoro sits out. DeAndre Hunter and Dejounte Murray are two good options on Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, but this Hawks roster continues to be a subpar defence despite having some solid personnel. There’s no reason for that to change tonight.
This is the Cavs’ second game in five nights. For Atlanta, it is a third in four nights. It is surprising the bookies have these teams so closely matched, even with the game taking place at State Farm Arena.
