In what appears the most one-sided of the first-round series, the Boston Celtics carry a 1-0 advantage into Tuesday’s Game Two. Atlanta lost by 13 in the series opener at the weekend, despite outscoring Boston in the fourth.

The Hawks are 10-point dogs for the second matchup, and have their work cut out against this Celtics team.

There were 16 wins separating these teams during the regular year. Such a gap was apparent during the contest a couple of days ago. Where Atlanta were able to batter Miami on the boards in the Play-In game, Boston has more size, and their versatile defence caused plenty of problems for Trae Young.

Young loves attacking favourable matchups. He does not have that luxury against this Celtics team. Manage to get Marcus Smart to switch, and you’ve got Derrick White, Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum. Young turned it over five times in Game One, shooting under 30% from the field on his way to 16 points. In general, he finished the season in a slump, and has not scored over 30.5 points in his last 13 outings.

Boston was third in defence in the regular season, and held Atlanta to 99 points in Game One. They are very disciplined, taking away some of Young’s easy points at the charity stripe. There are so many options with how they guard him, too. We are fading Young again here.

One of those options is White, who is in line to make All-Defense and has a massive role to play in this series with Atlanta’s star backcourt. White has been immense for the Celtics all season. He played 38 minutes in Game One, and can expect a similar workload here. Aside from a token five-minute outing in the regular season finale, White has hit the over on this rebounds and assists line in all of his games against the Hawks.

The former Spur can take advantage of the Hawks defence focusing on the wing duo. He had nine potential assists in Game One, showing what a playmaking responsibility he has, and can supplement those efforts with a few boards, particularly when guarding or guarded by Young.

This series looks to be heading for a sweep. It is hard to see any advantages for Atlanta. Boston simply has too much at both ends, and should comfortably defend their homecourt advantage in front of an expectant crowd on Tuesday night.

We’re wrapping this wager up with backing Boston on the moneyline. Taking an alternate line around -5 is something for bettors to consider, but with this at 2.30, we feel happy enough with the moneyline, just in case the Hawks can be more competitive than expected.
