TD Garden will host the opening game of the 2022/22 NBA season between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. It’s been a long summer with some basketball to keep us occupied, but this is what we’ve been looking forward to – the NBA! We finished the 2021/22 season at +4.19% ROI and 56.49 units of profit. Without further delay, let’s dive into the task at hand.

The Boston Celtics finished the 2021/22 regular season 2nd in the east, just 2 games adrift of the Miami Heat. Their good form spilt over into the playoffs, where they swept the Nets in the first round, and went on all the way to the finals. Unfortunately, they faced the Golden State Warriors and lost in a tough 6-game series.
The Celtics had one of the toughest defences in the league last year, allowing just 104.5 points per game and keeping opponents to just 33.9% from behind the 3-point line. Although their offence was solid too, there were inconsistencies, which they hope to address by adding Blake Griffin and Malcolm Brogdon to their ranks.
On the other side, the Philadelphia 76ers finished the regular season 4th in the conference with 51 wins. They beat the Raptors in the first round of the playoffs but were shut down by the Miami Heat in the conference semis. Joel Embiid was terrific for the sixers last season, averaging 30.6 points, 11.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game and was one of the favourites to win the MVP award.
The 76ers weren’t a bad team last year, they just needed another piece to complement Embiid’s MVP calibre play. They hoped to mend that issue by trading Simmons away to Brooklyn for superstar James Harden, but he wasn’t able to provide too much help in a short time stamp. With the new season, these two stars should be able to improve their play together and give Philly fans the success they’ve been waiting for since The Process began.
But who’s taking the season opener? These two teams split their 4 meetings last year, but the Celtics won their most recent one by 135-87 in Philly! The Cs are available at 1.80 odds to win, whilst the 76ers are valued at 2.20.
We love our dogs here at bettingexpert, but it’s the first game of the season, and I’d like to wait a bit and see what each team can do. The Celtics are playing at home, and they have a very exciting team with competent scorers, great defenders and solid team chemistry. I give them the edge heading into this one, and at 1.80 odds, backing them is definitely worth it.
Odds available as at 2:00 pm 18th October 2022. Odds may now differ.
