The Golden State Warriors will receive their rings prior to their game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. This hotly anticipated NBA season tips off with the latest episode of Steph Curry versus LeBron James and two of the Association’s powerhouse franchises matching up at the state-of-the-art Chase Center in San Francisco.
Looking to defend their title, the Warriors are six-point favourites over the Lakers at Bet365. Los Angeles is yet to trade Russell Westbrook, and could use the former MVP off the bench. The Dubs are hoping they can move past the altercation between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole, while all eyes will be on Anthony Davis after some impressive showings in the preseason.

First up, the Warriors to win this straight up is a good way to start off this bet builder. Golden State was 31-10 at home last season, while only six teams won fewer road games than the Lakers. Los Angeles is healthier, and has made some minor moves to improve its supporting cast, but they are still deserving underdogs against a Warriors team which should only improve.
That said, the Lakers’ big two are going to put up numbers. Davis is primed for a bounceback campaign. James is chasing the all-time points record, and will be running point with Dennis Schroeder out and Westbrook’s minutes likely staggered. The four-time MVP averaged just 6.2 assists last season, his lowest mark since his rookie campaign.
While scoring is going to be a priority again, we can expect a more selfless approach from James. His assists line is set at 5.5, which is clearly on the low side. He passed this in 32 of 56 games last term.
On Davis, the Lakers will hope last season was no more than a blip. He looks in better shape. He will primarily be playing the four in 2022-23, but could be shunted to the five against the smallball Warriors.
Opportunities to bully smaller players and dominate the glass will be plentiful. The former Pelican has gone over this points and rebounds line in three of his last five against the Warriors, including a 17-rebound outing in 2021-22.
Looking at the Warriors’ props, there are a few decent options, but there is uncertainty over their workload after Steve Kerr said their conditioning could limit his starters to under 30 minutes.
It might feel counterintuitive after his Finals masterpiece, but taking a low-scoring night from Curry makes sense. The Lakers do not have the individual defenders to cope with him, which will lead to an aggressive defensive scheme. They will be keen to force the ball out of his hands – pair that with a relatively low minutes total, and under 30.5 points seems a safe prop to add in here.
