NBA Best Bets: Wednesday, March 9th

There are 12 games in store for this Wednesday evening, and I’ve got 3 more of my best value bets ready. The Portland Trail Blazers are by far the biggest underdogs tonight, but the San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons are carrying some solid value at the moment.
NBA Best Bets Wednesday, March 9th
- Detroit Pistons vs Chicago Bulls: Pistons +6.0
- San Antonio Spurs vs Toronto Raptors: Spurs to Win
- Utah Jazz vs Portland Trail Blazers: Blazers +17.5
Odds as at 2 pm March 9th 2022. Odds may now differ.
Detroit Pistons vs Chicago Bulls Best Bet
Wed, Mar 9. 00:00 (UK)
The Detroit Pistons have had a very difficult 2021/22 season so far, hovering near the bottom of the eastern conference for most of the year and unable to bounce back. They are now 14th in the east with 18 wins and 47 losses, but there is a bright side. The Pistons are on a 3-game winning streak and coming off a 113-110 victory against the Atlanta Hawks. They have rallied nicely and are now performing much better on both sides of the court. The Pistons fare best against poor defensive teams, and despite being heavy underdogs at 3.15 to win, Dwayne Casey’s squad is carrying a lot of value at the moment. Only 4% of bettors are backing them tonight, and having covered the spread in their last 8 games, I have no problem backing them ATS again.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls are going through a very difficult period at the moment, losing 5 games in a row and coming off a 121-106 beatdown loss against the 76ers. The Bulls have ranked 25th in defensive rating in the last 5 games, and their offence hasn’t been much better, sitting at 24th place. With Lonzo Ball, and Alex Caruso out for this game, and Nikola Vucevic Listed as questionable, it’s hard to imagine the Bulls getting back on their feet this Wednesday evening. They have allowed 119.4 points per game in their last 5, whilst allowing opponents to shoot 38.1% from beyond the arc. I expect the Pistons to get their defence going against the shaky Bulls defence, and perhaps even pull off an upset. Still, I’m backing them against the spread with slightly bigger stakes.
- Selection: Pistons +6.0
- Best Odds: 1.93 (Marathonbet)
- Stakes: 8/10

San Antonio Spurs vs Toronto Raptors Best Bet
Thu, Mar 10. 00:30 (UK)
The San Antonio Spurs are another underrated team carrying a lot of value in the final stretch of the season, and I’m backing them once again to pull off a surprise. The Spurs have won half of their last 10 games and are coming off a solid 117-110 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Spurs love to play fast, and with 28.2 assists and just 12.7 turnovers per game, they are one of the most efficient fast-paced teams in the entire NBA. Their 25-40 record doesn’t do their form justice, but this can be very dangerous, and their NET rating rises from -0.9 on the road to 1.3 when playing at AT&T Center.
The Toronto Raptors are now on a 3 game losing streak and have won just 3 of their last 7 games. Although their defence has ranked 5th in the last 5 games, the Raptors are one of the slowest teams in the NBA, 24th to be exact. The Raptors are only averaging 108.2 points per game in their last 5, good for 27th in the league, whilst ranking 24th in offensive rating. Fred Van Vleet is a huge part of their offensive gameplan, and he has been out with a knee injury, but even if he plays in this one, I doubt he will be at running at 100%. I expect the Raptors to get outpaced and outgunned tonight, and I’m backing the Spurs to pull off an upset.
- Selection: Spurs to Win
- Best Odds: 2.05 (Bet365)
- Stakes: 5/10

Utah Jazz vs Portland Trail Blazers Best Bet
Thu, Mar 10. 03:00 (UK)
The Utah Jazz are 4th in the western conference with 40 wins and 24 losses but are coming off a 111-103 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Despite playing solid defence all season long, Quin Snyder’s team has ranked 23rd in defensive rating over the last 5 games whilst forcing just 12 turnovers per game. The Jazz play slow, and although they’ve had the best offence in the NBA this season, they have dropped down to 18th place in the last 5 games. The Jazz are by no means a bad team, and I don’t expect them to lose against the Blazers tonight, but they are available at 1.04 odds to win, and 96% of bettors are backing them. There is simply no value in backing the Jazz at these odds, and with the spread set at 17.0 points, it’s best to stay away.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers are 11th in the western conference with 25 wins and 39 losses and are riding a 5-game losing streak. They are coming off a 124-81 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and are coming into this game as heavy underdogs at 12.50 odds. But Anfernee Simons has emerged as a very important offensive player for them, and he was out in that game due to a slight quad injury. He is listed as questionable for this game and should he return, the Blazers have a very strong chance of covering the huge 17.0 point spread. The Blazers have been the 5th fastest team in the NBA in the last 5 games, and their strong pace and 3-point shooting can keep them afloat even against a team like the Jazz.
- Selection: Blazers +17.0
- Best Odds: 1.98 (Unibet)
- Stakes: 5
