New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers Preview

New York has turned its season around with Tom Thibodeau finally trusting the youngsters. They carry a strong recent record into this Christmas duel with the Sixers, including the league’s best net rating over the last 10 games.

Philadelphia, too, has got its season on track. It is six straight wins ahead of Friday’s game with the Clippers. Tobias Harris is fulfilling his three-and-D role superbly, leading a well-suited supporting cast next to MVP candidate Joel Embiid.

Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Lakers Preview

Anthony Davis’ injury removes some of the intrigue from this game. Dallas is heavy favourites despite winning just four of their 11 games against teams below .500. Consistency has been a problem for the Mavs, with a huge dependence on their role players hitting open threes from Luka Doncic.

Their defence is weakened with Maxi Kleber set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Josh Green and Dorian Finney-Smith also appear on the injury report, leaving them short on options to guard LeBron James.

DALLAS MAVERICKS VS LOS ANGELES LAKERS BEST BET

Dallas is not great at defending the rim even when Kleber is available. Los Angeles gets to the basket more than any other team.

Playing on the road, the Lakers deserve to be underdogs, but they should be able to cover this number. Look out for a classic between Doncic and LeBron.

Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies Preview

There is a burgeoning rivalry between these teams after their Play-In and Playoff contests over the last couple of years. Some of the heat in this matchup has been cooled by the injury to Steph Curry. Andrew Wiggins also seems unlikely to suit up, and Klay Thompson is listed as day-to-day.

Memphis is second in net rating over the last 15 games. They are 3-11-1 against the spread on the road, but they have been relentless when facing weaker teams with an 8-2 mark against teams below .500.

Denver Nuggets vs Phoenix Suns Preview

Phoenix ended their losing streak with three consecutive wins, but promptly added another loss against the lowly Wizards. They now face a Denver team which leads the Western Conference and has a dominant 10-3 record at home. Phoenix is 5-9 straight up on the road, and has been poor defensively of late.

Denver’s offence is very difficult to contain with Nikola Jokic putting up historic numbers once again. Jamal Murray is beginning to look more like himself, and Aaron Gordon is fulfilling his role perfectly. Michael Porter Jr could even return for this one.

DENVER NUGGETS VS PHOENIX SUNS BEST BET

Devin Booker is confirmed as out for the Suns on Friday night. Phoenix should be underdogs here even if Booker is healthy, but if he is unavailable, the Suns have a minimal chance of winning.
Denver already has several marquee wins this season and should add another in the Christmas Day finale.
