The Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. It is the third game in four nights for both teams, with each claiming wins on Friday and Saturday. Philadelphia has a whopping 15-game advantage over the Bulls in the loss column, but the season series is split 1-1 ahead of back-to-back games this week.
The Sixers are 18-12-1 against the spread when favoured at home. They are the hottest team in the Association right now with an eight-game winning streak to their name. Their 13.6 net rating over the previous 10 is by far the highest in the league.
There has been more bad news about Lonzo Ball for Chicago, while Alex Caruso is also a doubt for this game. Javonte Green is questionable. P.J. Tucker is the only injury concern for the Sixers.

The Bulls notched a surprise win over Philly back in January, with Zach LaVine going off for 41 points. The combination of LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic still makes Chicago a dangerous team on any given night, but their offence ranks 22nd in the NBA this season. Their win earlier this year also came in a game which Joel Embiid sat out.
Chicago’s defence is a surprise, sitting fifth on the year. This is a horrible matchup for them, however, particularly if Caruso misses out, leaving them short on options to put on James Harden or Tyrese Maxey. The Nikola Vucevic versus Embiid story has played out several times over the last few years with predictable results – Embiid has shot 58% or better in four of his last five games against Vucevic.
The former Magic big man isn’t the first player to struggle with Embiid, but there’s no denying the Bulls are especially lacking in ways to slow him down. They do not have the length or swarming defence to throw extra bodies at the Cameroonian. Leaving Vucevic one-on-one is asking for trouble.
Embiid is the scoring leader, and has averaged 35 per game since the break. Whether he puts up big numbers or not, he will make this an incredibly difficult night for the Bulls defence.

Chicago is reliant on its defence, with the offence proving to be all too predictable. This wasn’t how this team was meant to look. They have upside on offence with LaVine and DeRozan, but they need their two wings to put in big performances to try and keep pace with this white-hot Sixers offence.
Philly’s last four wins have come by nine or more points. Since February 7th, the Bulls have lost six games by eight or more points. This number is very reasonable with just how dominant the Sixers have been in 2023.
